A ridiculously amateurish murder investigation which at times was intriguing, but mostly a headache. This is a remake of a lost Monogram film called The Devil's Mate (1933) which starred Peggy Shannon & Preston Foster. The '41 adaptation has a equally decent casting in Ricardo Cortez & Joan Woodbury taking their roles. And they are the saviors of this rocky picture, even if they half-way phone it in compared to their bigger films. But for such little poverty row production it works alright.
