Would calling it Jekyll & Hyde have done better or at least led to a better preserved movie? Even the Spec Edition DVD looks like a youtube bootleg. The actors & prod design deserved better. Although it indulges in too many slow pans & tracking shots that need to be FF'd & making "Hyde's" makeup subtle makes it very unclear why no one recognizes him as "Jekyll" (esp early on) it gets better as it goes & there are interesting moments here like the sexually repressed woman & the park cage sequence

"I've--changed my mind." lol Unfortunately this one starts out pretty confused: Lee's gonna take the serum, chickens out, gives it to his cat, kills the cat when it runs amok, then starts giving the stuff to his psychiatric patients. :D Once he finally does decide to dose himself however (and it settles into the traditional storyline), things get much better. In fact, the low-key realistic approach makes it all the more effective. Too bad they couldn't have eschewed the first 20 minutes or so.

Another Jekyll and Hyde adaptation, but this time by Amicus instead of Hammer. But for some reason they changed the protagonist names. Christopher Lee does a fine job as the protagonist(s). I actually liked this one better in the first half hour, when Lee was experimenting on bringing out the subconscious side of his patients, than when the traditional story kicks in. From than it's a passable adaptation.
