Chuck and Larry are the pride of their fire station: two guys always side-by-side and willing to do anything for each other. Grateful Chuck owes Larry his life, and Larry, a widower, calls in that favor big time when civic red tape prevents him from naming his own two kids as his life insurance beneficiaries. All Chuck has to do is claim to be Larry's domestic partner on some city forms. Easy.

The Rob Schneider Project- day 24. Woke up already strapped into the view-chair. A voice behind me. "I'm particularly proud of this one. Relax. Let it happen. Your body is nearly ready." That voice, so familiar… "Adam Sandler??", I croak through parched lips. No reply comes as the movie starts. My soul is seared with offensive shit right away: Rob literally in yellowface, surrounded by an avalanche of gay panic jokes. I throw up and black out, mercifully. Schneider-annoyance factor:9

Happy Madison movies seem to just be Adam Sandler having fun with his friends (Grown Ups, Pixels) and if you enjoy those kinds of movies this may be just for you. I can tolerate some movies from that production company. This movie is more of the same, and it also feels a little too long in my opinion. There are worse ways to spend an hour and fifty five minutes I guess. It also feels a little too personal, given the subject matter. I didn't dislike it though. I found myself laughing.

Schneider quest, film 24: I can't believe a movie as offensive as this was allowed to be made and exists. Rob Schneider was yet again tolerable. My theory for that is, it's because Sandler is so unbearable, even a freshly made dogturd is heaven compared to him. And Buscemi, please, why? Fuck.

Many people hated this movie.. Well I didn't. I enjoyed it, just a film which is nice when you want to sit down and relax. I won't say that this comedy is hilarious, but it's pretty decent I think. It's a pitty that some things are completely unrelated to all the rest that's happenning in the movie and that I'm never going to be a fan of Adam Sandler..

I'm really glad I saw this movie and it was able to tell me how your sexual proclivities have nothing to do with who you are as a person. That's a nice lesson if you need it to be taught to you but if not it sounds like a lesson in tolerance for people who live under rocks. If Sandler's shtick hasn't gotten to you by now then maybe you do.

Hey remember that movie Boat Trip? About a guy and his fat best friend who had to pretend to be gay, while the guy falls in love with an insanely hot straight woman who only hangs out with him cause she thinks hes gay? This is that movie. Again. It sucked the first time. It sucks this time. Jessica Biel (15), 1-2 laughs (5), Adam Sandler used to be funny (10) = 30 points. Sorry Sandler, but your Billy Madison days are behind you.

You can count the laughs on one hand. The groans? You'd need a calculator. The "drop the soap" scene is especially brutal. I almost threw up in my mouth at the announcement that "Chuck and Larry have been accepted as heroes in the gay community!" James is charming and does his best, but the scenes of Sandler's womanizing are horribly forced. The scenes of Larry's gay son are even worse. Ugh. 25 of those 29 points go to Jessica Biel's sweet-sweet ass. Alexander Payne wrote this, what the fuck?!

Marketed almost solely on Jessica Biel's underpants so what can you really expect. Chuck and Larry follows the tired and predictable route of filling a movie with gay innuendo, while trying to feign political sensitivity by not actually poking fun at anything or anyone actually gay. What's left is alternatively too blunt (the omnipresence of the comically antigay) or too mean spirited (jokes about a character's dead wife) to have much of an impact in the sea of bland humor.

I thought I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was an endearingly cute movie about a couple of firefighters who scam the system to correct an error in the benefits system. The movie probably could have done with a few more actual gay actors, but I guess even with that misstep it was a good movie. Sandler and James are great together and the regular cast of Happy Madison characters show up for this movie as well. This movie is one of the brighter spots in Sandler's recent repertoire.

The tiring style of Adam Sandler took what in better hands could have been a funny social commentary, and just made bad gay joke after bad gay joke. The movie's humor feels dated from the jump. Over flowing with low-hanging jokes and simple stereotypes, becoming increasingly more and more the pillar of Sandler's comedies as he ages past his lovable child-like idiot loser character.

Why does Adam Sandler play the same roles over and over again? Anyways, he wasn't funny (sure, his lines were, but he doesn't deliver them funnily). The other characters were hilarious, though. Btw, I didn't watch this because Adam was in it, I watched it because it had a good story (fish-out-of water stuff, you know). This film was average at best.

Does the quality of Happy Madison films vary from film to film, or am I just more receptive to clumsy, frat-boy humour on some days rather than others? That this question needs to be posed reflects the ambivalent feelings the film stirs; more amiable and amusing than average, not withstanding a few wincing uses of that other “f word”, and a “Mickey Rooney, hold my beer” performance from Schneider. Empty and silly, and the Sandler-Biel relationship is near inexplicable, but pleasant enough.

Being gay myself, this movie isn't really offensive, although it did irritate me the fact that two straight would manipulate the system for their own charade and benefit. Besides that, it is a truly awful film, the acting (especially from Sandler) is atrocious and the abysmally average screenplay is directed with no vigour or talent. It was such a waste of my money and time to see this piece of utter trash. To be completely honest along with Keanu Reeves, Sandler ranks as the worst actor ever.

While I'm usually a sucker for a lot of Sandler's efforts, this is the first time I felt like one of those critics out to hate the man, because his latest movie is so atrocious it strains to do anything. It's completely offensive and yet wants to send a message, the lead actors have no chemistry but want to be buddy-buddy, and the movie isn't funny in the least but wants to be a comedy. This may be the year's worst. It's so stupid.

The only good thing about this movie is that it's spreading awareness about LGBT as Chuck and Larry realized that homophobia is a bad thing. Some elements and stereotypes in the movie are questionable nowadays. Well, yeah it was 2007. The movie was dull honestly. It feels like a comedy genre where everything in it must be taken so seriously. But some parts of the movie are quite liberating. Overall, it's silly and quite boring.

There are few things worse than a bad comedy that's tries to make some social commentary somewhere in it's run time. There are always some serious scenes that don't fit the rest of the movie where the main characters "get it" and completely change. By the time this happens the audience is already so bored or offended that it feels like one last terrible gag made by the delusional filmmakers.

Kinda funny to see reviews calling this movie homophobic & gay-panicky mixed in with ones calling it heavy-handed & preachy with the tolerance message - guess it's kind of a rorschach test in that way. Social analysis aside it's not that funny, complete with a close up of a fat guy farting. Marginally higher production values than later Sandler films, so I'll give it an extra point. The mid-to-late 00s was kind of a weak era for film comedy in general imo; TV sitcoms dominated those years.

Sandler's humor at its most tired. This movie has NOT aged well. I'm not a prude, I enjoy coarse and even controversial humor (the likes of South Park or Big Mouth), but when you want to do gross humor - you have to A) be smart about it B) go all the way out. The comedy in this film doesn't have the balls to go darker than giggle at boobs and occasional fart jokes. This is PG comedy made for adults and works for neither demographic.
