With a solid young cast and an always good Gillian Jacobs, this revisiting-my-youth comedy has good bones. Some of the narrative about writing is pretentious while actively trying not to be, but the meat of what's good comes in the last beats of the movie. Kate makes a turn that feels very real and quite mature by the closing credits.

I would say it just edges into the good category, simply because Jacobs is lovely and brings an easily formed connection with her. It's difficult not to care about what she does from, really, the moment you first lay eyes on her. The movie doesn't do anything substantial, nor is it especially effective as a comedy, but it did have some heart. I'm a little biased because I'm a writer of sorts, with the dream of novel publishing, so some of the commentary it slightly touches on resonates with me.

It's light, poignant, with a few laughs. Good smash cut usage kept me engaged. There isn't much rewatchability unfortunately.

I'm a fan of Gillian Jacobs - she does both drama & comedy well & she's clearly pretty but in a down to earth way. I also have nostalgic feelings about college & am drawn to honest stories about aging, failure, & regret as long as they don't go overboard & offer some funny moments too. This is nowhere near as amazing as Sideways (it's not as funny & the allegedly "good" writing was just pretentious), but it mines a similar sense of loss & small hope. It's made for me, but mileage will vary.

Despite a likable cast, I used to Go Here is a tepid film that recycles clichés without adding anything new. The existential mid-life Jacobs' character goes through is part arrested development and part contrived happy ending via a realisation of self-confidence. There are a few chuckles and the film edges on light poignancy, but it’s not put together (or paced) well enough to be good.

In my time working as a screenplay reader, I must have seen two dozen scripts exactly like this. Nothing standout or noteworthy on a story or character level, and nowhere near funny enough to be viewed strictly as a comedy. You'll forget you ever watched it within a week. If you want Gillian Jacobs in this kind of territory, check out Love, and if you want Jemaine Clement in a light rom-commy type movie, you could do better with People Places Things from 2015.

Tries to make use of tons of awkward humor that falls flat. Not boring but a bit slow

Tatlı 1 film. Ama beni hiç haz etmiyor. Yeni ayrılan ve kitabının kötü olmasından dolayı eski üniversitesine dönen yazar kızımızın maceraları. Okuldan nefret ettiğim için, bana göre değil. Okul kankalarını da özlettirdi. Yeni kankalar ediniyor. Ama olsun. Bir de temposu çok yavan. Filmin sonunda, yaşın küçük olması önemli değil. Su güzel gelsene.

A lot of bad reviews from people who have watched the movie with their critical thinking part. This is a movie one can lean into. I wasn't expecting it to be a mind-blowing narrative or an innovation. It is not trying to be more than it is. Its very "indie". I just loved it.
