As a fat man who has long found Jeff Garlin one of America's funniest men, it's no surprise I found much to enjoy in his passion project: a self-written, -directed and -starring film about a neurotic, overweight guy in his 30s searching for love and finding fatty foods. OK, so I'm engaged, but I found this a pretty relatable tale anyway. Smart-funny and absolutely worth a look.

If you squint and add a few swearwords could perhaps imagine it's a Rogen movie. It's actually better than that, a pleasant string of sketches but awfully middle-class male fantasy.

Feels more like a series of skits than a movie, though it does tie up several plot threads in a lyrical last scene worthy of vintage Woody Allen.

Jeff Garlin is a comedic genius. Here he writes, directs, and stars in a great rom com for people who hate rom coms. Many people know him from Curb Your Enthusiasm, but this is just another great example that Garlin can do much more than simply hold his own. This movie (a long with his hilarious stand up material) really show how good he is. Anyone looking for a light film that retains quality should seriously consider this movie.

It seems like a cross between just above the average Woody Allen film and one of Larry's Curb your enthusiasm episodes. Sometimes it's a bit clumsy, but that didn't bother me too much...

Written by, directed by and starring Jeff Garlin, Larry David's manager from Curb Your Enthusiasm, and it feels a bit like an episode of Curb. It has a very weird plot structure, as in there isn't really a plot. This small period of the main character's life is not his best or worst time, just a transition period, and barely that. It was funny, but not that funny. I dunno, it was a really odd experience. I can't recommend it one way or another.

The only time the film hits is when Silverman and Garlin are let loose in the supermarket. Beyond that, for all the supposed 'comedic' talent on display, the entire effort remains shockingly unfunny.

An occasionally funny "romantic"-comedy, this is more of an exercise in self-appreciation. Silverman, Sedaris, and Hunt are funny as always, but I have a hard time swallowing Garlin as a lead in anything, let alone a romance.
