A trend I see post-WWII is that they're running out of people to center their musical costume dramas around. The lead characters of their biopics are becoming more obscure personalities. They might not be irrelevant from a historic perspective, but they are in these Hollywood musicals. You can insert and random show biz guy from the turn of the century and these musicals will look and play-out the same. Nice piece of fluff, and June Haver does add to the charm, even if they close to waste her.
