Ice Princess

Joan Cusack really sells this movie.

I giggled with enthusiasm every time she fell.

If this movie would have been pared down to the basic premise with just a little bit of the extras, it would have been fine. The romance plot especially seemed forced. The other major flaw was the constant flip-flopping of the characters. The main character is the only one who's constant. The mother objects to her daughter skating and then switches. The coach recognizes the girl's talent but continually sabotages her, and the only other like-able character shows herself to be jealous and petty.

Cliche-story, but not such a bad movie

Trachtenberg is a sleeper who may eventually get some good roles.

Okay. Nothing really outstanding.

It's too cute for its own good, inherently cloying, and the drama is heavy-handed to the point where the believability factor begins to defy all sense or logic.

Heart-warming, sweet, and has the chick from "Eurotrip." Sweet.

It's nice to see a heroine in a teen film with some actual brains. That said, the film degenerated into some pretty clichéd plot points by the second half.
