Anton Tobias (Sawa) wakes up Halloween morning to discover-after watching some TV and perusing the contents of the fridge, oblivious to the pool of blood on the floor-that his parents have been turned into a couple of headless Halloween decorations. The possessed hand from Evil Dead 2 in its first starring role. For a dumb, extremely 90's comedy, this had a few amusing moments. ...I'm not sure how ashamed I should feel for that.

Entertaining but dumb. Unlikeable main character ruins the comedic moments. Seth Green must be really connected to get all these roles in the late 90s. Jessica Alba in underwear and gratuitously crawling through air ducts. Vivica A. Fox as a Slayer. The Offspring. Promo images suggest this is an early 2000s teen drama. Fav scene: pretty cool decapitation effect going up the stairs.

Stoner comedy-horror that manages a few laughs, but really no reason to watch this unless you want to see teenage Jessica Alba in her underwear. I did, and the film delivered. Also of note is the gorgeous Vivica Fox doing the bad-ass buttkicking black chick thing long before Kill Bill.

Idle Hands is a complete disaster that might be funny or even possibly scary if you're really high, but barring that, it features nothing that could even ironically be described as "competent." Bad writing, bad direction, bad acting -- even the effects for the evil hand are pretty bad! Nobody on this project seemed to care about it, and that's exactly what you should do as well. Forget that Idle Hands exists and go do something more useful with your time.

Enjoyable horror-comedy feels like it wants to ape Raimi but can't quite settle on tone, especially at the beginning. Becomes more gleefully nasty as it goes on (all to its credit) and Sawa proves himself an amusing comic contortionist, at least until Hart takes over. Terrific comic relief from Henson and Green, and Fox is terrific though underused (and ultimately redundant); Alba fares well as designated eye candy, but did her character have to be *that* dumb?

Idle Hands is very funny, but very silly. It's not as cheesy as other teen horror films, but instead intentionally humorous and absurd. It's a fresh change of pace from the slasher flicks of the 90's. Pretty good!

This is a product of it's time, the film is like a hybrid American Pie/Scream/Evil Dead 2. Most of the jokes and gags fall flat, there are more plot holes than plot. But it's dumb stoner fun with decent music that is a blast of nostalgia for people my age.

very limited humour although the 2 stoner friends are kind of enjoyable. has that problem where most of the characters are obnoxious and/or idiots and a bad ending. could be worse i guess. the gore/sfx stuff looks kind of cool sometimes but didn't really think more than "eh" overall

Idle Hands pitches itself as a lowbrow stoner comedy, and it would be unfair to judge it to any higher standard. Nonetheless, the film remains a badly written, forcefully acted, campy gore-fest. In all honesty, it has a few fun moments but the way in which it re-treads many horror tropes, it dips in and out of being tiresome. It's bad, but in a B-movie way it's watchable perhaps ironically.

So the audience is pretty mute, and i'm laughing, oh well, my problem. While not a huge splatter picture (plenty of off screen action), i dont feel as ripped off as i usually do, probably because the characters are so likeable and the picture is amusing enough that i'm not just waiting for the next snuff. The guys all do a great job, but the gals are mostly decorative.

One of those movies I enjoyed in middle school for some reason or another. Going back now... I guess I see the appeal. There are some laughable moments, and Seth Green is normally an enjoyable cast member. No different here. Still, helped out that one woman... who woulda thought she'd be a star?

Despite a cool premise, this is a pretty terrible mess. The main hero is dumb, the plot is half-baked, the kills are meh, every character sucks, & even though some of the comedy is admittedly clever most of it just doesn't land. Alba's character is embarrassingly terrible. With its cast, concept & production value this should be a lot better, which makes the final product that much more annoying. It plays like a horror movie written by teen stoners, but not the cool ones. Skip this.

Quite possibly the most 90's movie that ever 90'sed. It's goofy, cheesy, and at times pretty hokey, but damn if it's not a hugely entertaining, fun experience. The comedy is legitimately funny, there's some real creativity, surprisingly good effects, and Green and Henson make for perfect comic relief. I can see it not working for everyone, particularly the stuff with Alba's character, but I don't think it deserves the hate it gets.
