Il futuro

Has a haunted, surrealist quality to it but its thematic undertaking doesn't quite deepen.

A striking film which goes beyond the genre conventions of teens becoming adults and sexual awakening. Alicia Scherson certainly found a powerful muse in Manuela Martelli, a youth who resembles a young Gina Gershon and seems to carry in her mien the feral animal pout of a young Asia Argento. This young star more than carries the film, and her scenes with Rutger Hauer are memorable. The brother's scenes, less so, but by its pacing and mood alone this is an accomplished breakthrough film.
