Il giovane favoloso

Martone seems to be one of Italy's great unknown Romantic stylists - he mixes the whiff of costume drama with modern, transcendent touches, and even takes imaginative, heightening detours whenever Leopardi's emotional pain calls for it. It's the life of a sick poet though, told in overlong chapters with no narrative drive to speak of, so expect all this beauty to be forgotten.
