The production design is great, the action good and the direction solid, but the plot is so full with twists and turns, it left me completely cold. This is a waste of potential, I expected more from an adaptation by Ji-woon Kim of a favorite anime

South-Korean remake/reimagining of Oshi's Jin-Roh. The plot is better communicated here, but doesn't feel less convoluted; the symbolism is also toned down from the anime, which is a good thing. The score & aesthetic are unbeatable in the latter, though the attempt to remain true here is admirable. This is far more competent than one would usually expect a live-action anime adaptation to be, and for that reason alone I'm impressed. Unfortunately, it's dragged down by a truly awful ending,

The lighting, the colours, and the cinematography are staggeringly beautiful and the action is breathtaking. The politics are a little muddled and the special armour inconsistently invincible, but those faults are easily forgotten in the face of the rest. An excellent picture.

o kadar dağınık bir anlatısı var ki sinematografik başarıyı da baltalıyor.

It's good, it's not great, but I love Jin-Roh from 1998, I love the design of the suits (specifically the masks). I wish they hadn't changed when/where it took place, especially since their design fits better with the alternate history aesthetic. The pacing is off (it's like 40 minutes extra of bloat), it kind of just meanders along for a while, but the bookends are fun. I'm glad they had the early sewer part because I loved that scene in the original too. Great photography as well.

Good filmmaking and a few cool sequences, but nothing substantial to tie it together

Its overcomplicated structure and immense dramatic ambitious remind me a monumental castle of poorly compressed slops. All the bricks are different in both size and polish, but similar in their stench and fatally crumble into fetid, filthy heap under its own weight. What a fortune that the local knights have inbuilt gas masks in their cool and stylish suits of armor!

bu kore filmlerinde gereksiz bir romantik bakış oluyor. Caanım yönetmenim de yakalanmış :(
