It was decent for what it was but none of the plot beats really had the impact that they should have. A bunch of threads that are interesting enough to be entertaining while not being fully explored. I would rate this a little lower if it wasn't for Rachel Brosnahan, who put in a consistently enjoyable and passionate performance that doesn't resort to melodrama; just plays a woman completely out of her element well.

not without its small stretches of repetition and meandering, but I also think people aren't giving this its proper dues. its upending of its genre reminds me of something like Drive, and when it's successful, its payoff is satisfying.

Somewhat minimalistic crime story that focuses on a perspective that is usually glossed over. A refreshing change in perspective, but not as engaging as I had hoped.

A fine, little Big Tent movie.

A feminist get-out-of-the-mafia deal, with the pulse picking up for ten minutes when she first hides in a new house. The rest is a self-conscious, drawn-out director's movie (ellipses, shot geography, set design). The resolution points at the emotion we were supposed to feel when all that was served was removed confusion.

Rachel Brosnahan was good and carries this movie. Dumb title. The stupid writers thought it would be great if they kept the audience and the main character ignorant and confused for most of the movie. The fog starts to lift in the 3rd act. Although there was nothing particularly remarkable about her, it was easy to get invested in a beautiful woman dealing with a serious life and death situation. Surprisingly, the unexpected ending was worth waiting for. Good music. Satisfying and worthwhile.

it's an appealing idea to focus on what seems to be the blindspot for most crime dramas, but things suddenly don't get profound or more interesting when you slow down the tempo - it becomes drawn-out. there is a reason that these are the supporting characters and side stories in the majority of crime films, when you don't add anything new to it, you turn an interesting idea into a boring one. but I'll never not enjoy watching brosnahan.

Evidently it tries not to be your typical slow-burning 70s thriller, but it finally lands what it wants in great fashion during the second half -- tracking shots with nearly no plot info, but full of tension; night club sequence is really something. Cast is great, not just Brosnahan, and it's just good to watch a film that takes a woman perspective's from start to finish. She doesn't quite know WHAT is going on, why her husband left and what he's done. Neither do we. The ride is what matters.

I didn't think much of this film, as the viewer is left in the dark (as is the main character) about what's going on and there's little context to things. Sure there are some shocking moments, fast paced scenes etc. but it doesn't mean a lot and there's just not much to get too absorbed by or anything. If you don't like the sound of crying babies then this film isn't for you, as quite a lot of it consists of the mum trying to convince herself things are ok & keeping her very young baby settled.
