In Fear

Third act is very weak and does the film no favors. Was much better when we didn't know what was going on. The catalyst is just some random dope that's never really explained. Oh no......look out, it's randomness....run for your life!

In Fear does a lot of things right; the slightly awkward protagonists, the moody cinematography, the feeling that oh god things will go horribly wrong won't they. But the film gets quite repetitive around the middle, and once things start escalating it remains vague just why these things are happening at all. This kind of removed most of the tension for me. A shame, since there's definitely potential here. That one reveal was just.. oh god.. so mean!

I was quite enjoying this at FrightFest '13, but I can't rate it properly as I received a tweet from Human Centipede 2 star: Laurence Harvey halfway through inviting me for a drink. It's not every day you get to talk about Japanese vomit porn with one of the exciting new talents in horror, so I walked out. I've heard bad things about the rest of the film though, so meh.

What kind of squares drive to a music festival without blasting music on the way?

Po stosunkowo wysokich notach spodziewalem sie co najmniej dobrej, trzymajacej w stalym napieciu produkcji. W In Fear dobre jest tylko pierwsze trzydziesci minut, pozniej nastepuje nuda przeplatana raczej malo przekonujacymi wydarzeniami i nie podbijajaca tetna gra aktorska. Nieco powyzej sredniej, ale nie moge napisac, bym ogladal to z wypiekami na twarzy.

Very minimal british thriller about a young, just formed couple getting lost driving a car in the woods. The first half was a lot like The Blair Witch (thankfully it's not a found footage film), third character gets introduced in the second half, and the plot changes a bit. Overall, dull movie. No originality.

There's something about this minimalist Ourburous of violence that lingers after the final credits roll. Maybe it's because this movie is actually a thesis on retributory justice in disguise, subtly arranged with restrained complexity. If one pays attention to the weirdness, the carefully weighted dialogue (i.e. "violence is the mother and the daughter"), the elaborate set pieces, one realizes that this is the work of a law student crafting A Cave allegory for our justice system.

Amazing how with three characters you can build such atmosphere.

I suspect the whole movie got made because of that (quite original) gimmick that happens to one of protagonists.
