For his second film, Imamura was assigned by the studio Nikkatsu to direct this vehicle for singer-comedian Frank Nagai. The result is a comedy about a hen-pecked drugstore owner who spends his days reminiscing about a wartime romance in the tropics. (KG)

Light hearted and fun for most of its runtime but the ending was a bit lame.

Like a lighthearted Japanese screwball edition of Eyes Wide Shut. Decent but hugely unremarkable. Slightly all over the place and disjointed although short enough to avoid being boring. Imamura tries to pump some life into it but struggles with the mediocre material.
