A former Nazi doctor-turned-pedophile, paralyzed from the neck down after a suicide attempt, is forced to accept a boy as his nurse under threat of blackmail: the boy secretly witnessed the doctor's torture and murder of another boy, and possesses the man's diary, which details his wartime experiments and his subsequent descent into pedophilia and murder. Before long, the boy displays his ambition to follow in the older man's footsteps. (imdb)

A unflinching portrayal of pure human evil that has far more artistic merit than its cheap 'porno-holocaust' reputation suggests. It taps into a truly nightmarish world with lyrical scenes of brutal child murder - its seductive aesthetic beauty and depraved eroticism make it all the more horrifying. Crosses the line for most but worth it. One of the hardest films I've ever had to sit through.

I tried really hard to like this movie, but it was just too bland. A tale of dying evil versus budding evil that will shock some, but bore others. I fell into the latter half. Still, it had some pretty creepy shots, and the opening scene is brutal.

Torture porn with less graphic visuals. Which I guess I'm thankful for to some extent, but it's still just a whole lot of fetshizing of torture with some thin contextualization. I found it tiresome and unappealing. And that's without getting into the specifics of the content which I'm pretty sure I would find offensive if I were willing to give the film more thought. I know I found the intro disgustingly exploitative.

Totally horrific, and very stylish, the photography alone evokes a lot of emotion. It's not as exploitative as some movies, but it ultimately turns out to be purposeless; violence begets violence. Still great

There are 3 versions of this film. If you want to see the WHOLE story, import the region 1/2/4 version from Europe. It's a few dollars extra but makes a BIG difference in story fluidity and continuity.

It has its moments, but I'm sure they could have been made scarier at the hands of a better filmmaker. The directing and acting are mediocre, and the script is shit. Suffice it to say that none of the characters behave rationally or naturally. The kids' stoic submissiveness is the most abysmal of those falsehoods, but also the doctor's.
