As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I take a look at my dog and realize he's out of breath. Because I've been desertin' the army so long that even John Travolta thinks my mind is gone. But I ain't ever push a guy off a roof that didn't deserve it, me be tossed off a cliff, you know that's what act 2 was.

"Kendini ciddiye almamak" gibi bahaneler filmin kötülüğünün üstünü örtmüyor. Senaryo çok zayıf. John Wick in Wild West yapma istediği fena ters tepmiş.

Not fantastic, but entertaining. Doesn't take itself too seriously. It's sort of the western John Wick.

The movie doesn't take itself seriously, which is ok for a western. There are some interesting scenes. But it's overall unsatisfactory. Maybe the biggest flaw is the lack of a respectable villain.

An only half-serious revenge-themed neo-western from horror film director Ti West, with the perpetually unconvincing Ethan Hawke heading a poorly-accented cast including cartoonish villain James Ransone. West delights in rehashing genre tropes in a way that vaguely resembles Tarantino westerns, but not quite as trashy, gratuitous or stylish (thankfully, I should add). It's at once highly conservative and postmodernly flavored, and while entertaining, doesn't rank among West's finest.

Entertaining tip of the hat to Leone is nevertheless flawed by some fundamental misunderstandings as to why Leone's westerns worked so well - had Hawke's mostly expositional dialogue been cut in half, his performance would be infinitely stronger, and while his pet is a great performer, his almost-human comprehension skills are too cute by half. However, Travolta is outstanding as the manic, conniving Sheriff, and the sun-baked locations and photography create enough good will to be enjoyable.

Ti West continues his trend of taking scripts that ought to be short films and stretching them out to be features

You're gonna see a lot of comparisons to "John Wick" here because Hawke takes on a bunch of bad guys who killed his dog, but the problem is that "John Wick" succeeded because of crazy fight scenes and weird world building, this movie does not follow in those footsteps. The violence is present, but it's much more spare and slower paced. It's a decent movie with a couple fading stars and a couple recognizable faces who never quite made it. Nothing to write home about.

Just starting to feel like this kind of thing is getting way overdone. Love Ethan Hawke tho and West certainly has an eye for these "genre homage" pieces. Takes a lot from High Plains Drifter but just lacks the stuff that makes that film amazing(although I saw an argument on Youtube talking about how this is a lot closer to something like John Wick and I think that's a much fairer comparison).

In a Valley of Violence is the Western John Wick, which turns out to be a better combination than it might initially seem. Lonely hero, evil townsfolk, dead dog? You've got yourself a movie. It takes a sillier approach than classic Westerns often do, and has a couple of actors go over-the-top in terms of their performances, but the dialogue is sharp, the action is good, and the story does enough. In a Valley of Violence is a fun time at the movies.

The brutality of the west, tongue-in-cheek style! Don't ever mess with Ethan Hawke's dog!

Ti West moves from horror to westerns, but the game remains the same: paying tribute to past directors and films. It's Tarantino meets Leone, but without the snappy dialogue or mythic grandeur respectively. West's bone dry direction is uninspiring, and his script is a largely predictable revenge narrative focussed on a 'mysterious' stranger who lacks mystery and intrigue. Hawke tries, but he just can't be anything other than regular, and the attempts at humour generally fail.

It's competent.. there's a couple of moments that feel as if they were onto something to create an interesting re-interpretation of the Western, but not really

Yönetmen şiddetli bir Red Kit hikayesi çıkarmış. Köpeği Rintintin ve atı Düldül ile Denton kasabasına gelen Red Kit, şerifin serseri oğlunu dövünce olaylar başlar. Harika bir kovboy filmi. Fakat uzun diyaloglar filmi sıkıcı yapıyor. Hayırsız evlat niye gittin babanı vurdun?

I enjoyed this one even if it is lesser Ti West. Definitely wears it's multiple influences on it's dusty sleaves.

Self-aware indie dialogue just ruis everything, as hard as the cast tries. Also, couldn't it be at least a little bit less self-contained? But hey, one of the best film dogs ever.
