Reminds me of Sergio Martino in ways, this less by-the-book giallo. Taking a stunning sun-drenched Mediterranean location, it typifies the best form of Euro-exotica alongside 'arty' cinematography. I always consider Sorel like the shit version of Alain Delon.

While the plot never really gets engrossing, the attractions of this is mostly is in the smoldering sensuality as well as an attractive cast and setting. It also benefits from a strong score and great use of a returning theme popsong.

Stylistically closer to late 60's (Lenzi/Baker) mystery gialli than it's 1971 peers. There's no gore and it's surprisingly tame considering "Lusty Lovers" alt title. Tempo is quite slow but still enjoyable and the plot is more coherent than usual. It runs out of steam after the 2nd twist and would have needed a boost towards the end. It's very stylish: beautiful cinematography that captures the colors and textures of the villa and Mediterranean sea. Worth a watch, but not a top tier giallo.
