The title's from the film's most interesting subject, a pianist & dropout; the irony is he's not being ironic. He's referencing his chosen profession, scavenging, through which he's apparently amassed $90,000, spending none per a possibly schizophrenic but not untruthful philosophy of spite articulated in some remarkable scenes. TV journo Richey avoids human interest muck attempting to impressionistically convey something of her subjects' twilight world. Good, unusual score by Adrian Belew (!)
