I’ve generally become somewhat disillusioned by my rewatch of the HK favorites of my youth, but holy shit, if there’s a better (then) Modern Kung Fu movie, I can’t think of it right now. Yuen Wo-Ping has the brilliant idea of mostly getting rid of the comedy and drama typical of this sub-genre and almost entirely replaces it with a ridiculous amount of kicks to faces and stunts that qualify as pretty fucking amazing even today.
