A standard but nevertheless solid thriller. John Malkovich's creepy, soft-voiced approach to evil is arguably even more valuable to the movie than Clint's gravelly machismo. The romantic subplot is pretty unnecessary but I otherwise enjoyed it very much. It's also the last Clint Eastwood-starring movie that he didn't direct, for all you trivia buffs out there.

I really enjoyed the back and forth between Malkovich and Eastwood. It's a pretty bare bones script but they make the most of it.

Good and quite suspenseful, with great acting all around. The movie's cover suggests it's an action film, but, while there are moments of action (and they're very good) I would call it more of a cat-and-mouse suspense movie.

Could have been a great film, but isn't. Malkovich is great, Eastwood is decent, but plays a very unlikeable character. The story is hokum.

Not a lot to this one, the script is very straight-forward and there are zero twists or turns. Despite its predictability, Eastwood and Malkovich both bring great charisma to their roles, and their dialogues are always engaging.

One of the coziest and fun thrillers of the 90's i say. John Malkovich is the perfect cast as creepy and calculating killer with a a very selective conscience. A wonderful role with a high probability of impressions afterwards. Eastwood is more frisky than usual, funny even. Of course the story is mostly nonsense but at least it sticks to the internal logic of the universe

Run-of-the-mill police thriller. Eastwood isn't a bad lead, but he's again in his typical tough guy role. The film follows the genre conventions so closely that there aren't really any surprises at any point.

Pulse-pounding action from the very beginning. I know it's a cheap thrill, but I think it could be Malkovich's defining role and Clint Eastwood's final "Stud" role before he became an old-timer.

Malkavich is great. Eastwood plays the same character he's always played The plot/screenplay is corny Hollywood drivel. Ultimately watchable, but its dangling near the bottom of that list.

Good "old" thriller filled with suspense and mind games instead of special effects and pointless action scenes. Eastwood, and specially Malkovich, lift it to higher level as well. All in all very entertaining and very good movie.

These 90s thrillers are all like comfort cinema for me. The only thing they tend to have in common is a villain who likes to make threatening phone calls, but they all embody something within me. I really enjoyed this film. Clint is cool and this has to be one of the best John Malkovich performances when it comes to harnessing his weird, unnerving energy.

A divorced older employee feels somewhat disrespected in the office, while also harbouring submerged doubts of his own about the quality of his past work. Flirting with a younger employee, however, slowly rebuilds some confidence, and he then takes a chance to show his boss his willingness for self-sacrifice, the result being that he can get the girl and retire knowing that his worth has finally been vindicated. Relies heavily on the charms of its star. Very far from Morricone’s best score.

Well, you got Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich hamming it up but not much else. Would have been better if they cut the fat, and just made it those two actors having intense phone conversations with a climatic personal confrontation.

It's a nice plot that brazenly goes all Die Hard at the end, but it feels like it could've used a lot of tightening. Eastwood does his thing, but Malkovich does a great job.

Starts out rather perfunctory and even kinda hokey, but it gets better as it goes along, and the second half is very good indeed, taut and gripping. OK, admittedly the "skellum" thing was a bit of a stretch...oh yeah, and the "ukelele" bit was hilarious. The overall feel of the thing bears more than a slight resemblance to Sudden Impact.

Clint Eastwood in his usual weary and grumpy persona. Malkovich is a great villain and the real star of the film. However, his character could have been much more, if only writers would have dared to make his motivations morally ambiguous. Although the score is done by Morricone it doesn't stand out. Decent thriller, that could have been much more. Loved the last scene.

Malkovich was fantastic in capturing the dark, sociopathic nature of the would-be presidential assassin, and Eastwood was also good in the way we know him for. But ultimately the plot had too many holes that both of these could not fill. Ir's basically another forgettable assassination movie. They're all predictable arent they?

It's always nice to see malkovich getting recognition, but his oscar nominated performance is overshadowed by the fine, fine work of Clint Eastwood. He is an often underestimated actor and this is some of his finest work. Jeff Maguire's fine screenplay combined with the two lead performances make what could have been a run of the mill thriller something better.
