What a cock tease of a film. Every now and then you think maaaybe you'll get some satisfaction or maaaybe it'll turn out ok, but no. All that build up only for the hot lap dancer to turn around and be your grandad.

Why, Netflix, why? Mediocre everything, stretched out plot. Pay off is just about worth it.

*Spoilers* Please don't tell me that the logic behind preventing bad things from happening in the future is to assassinate every single Trump supporter that is and ever was...

Unexpected reveals and interesting ideas. A bit long at times, the pacing felt more like a mini series than a movie. The science bits seem a bit wobbly at times though

With a strong first section deeply seated in police mystery, I couldn't help but feel that each jump forward in time was a jump back from this movie's strengths. By the end, much like the main character, the only passion I had left for this dud was a misguided drive to see the story end.

There are clever elements to the time travel aspect. Having something to anticipate every nine years is good for pacing and shows some progression/regression for the main cast. But the ending is awful and completely unsatisfying. It also raises more questions than answers. It's a lot of narrative work for basically nothing.

everything is okeish besides that unrealistic threat from militia enthusiasts and other rural cosplayers. i wish she had fought some real modern day threats: commies, antifa terrorists and libfascists. though most likely unhinged hollywood activists were doing their usual thing - projecting and representing normal people as 'white racists' causing civil war (they will do it irregardless of ur race anyway. dont ask me why)

**SPOILERS** The essential point of In the Shadow of the Moon is that sacrifice is required for a better future. As such the film employs a linear (predestination) version of time travel while showing an ephemeral version of the darkest-timeline to illustrate its point. All this is fine, well-edited, albeit with shoddy CGI. What really lets the film down is the lacklustre cast, and the compromisingly questionable moral position the film takes.

Michael C. Hall's accent sounds fucking nuts, and nobody else even attempted the Philly accent, so it sounds it even crazier by comparison. He must have been like, "come on, guys, I thought we were all gonna do it!"

This was actually a good idea for a movie but the direction it eventually took was just a huge let down.

The "payoff" is not nearly enough to justify the plot structure. There's not actually much meet and potatoes on this plot if you actually look, just worked backwards from a generic sci-fi idea

I don't generally like time travel stories as the mechanics usually swallow the plot, leaving it with inevitable holes. This one, however, mostly does it right by focusing on telling its story and relying on Holbrook's sizable talent. Too bad that once the climax hits and it gets to twists and explanations, everything goes to crap in pretty much every conceivable way.

Entertainment: 3.5/4 -- could've been 4.5 if it hadn't been for gruesome deaths. Spirit: 1.5/3. Society: 1.5/3. Family: 0/1 (too bloody).

Watching this jawn is like eating an alright hoagie from Wawa with a glass of lukewarm wooder. Best scene is seeing how pigs get turned into scrapple lmfao

A very entertaining movie... until the first hour. Then it collapses. Even the end's twist, was predictable (at least for me). It seems like the writers, had a great idea, but they run out of ideas to keep the suspense until the end.

I yearned for some interesting twist and ending, something that would remove this bland, generic taste from my mouth. Unfortunately the movie was disappointing from the start to the finish. The idea behind the movie is good enough to pull you in, but the execution leaves A LOT to be desired.

This is a full steak dinner. I mean this is so over-stuffed with genre and plot that I found myself tired midway through. The first act is actually quite good with its gritty 1988 police procedural. After that, we get further and further from everything that I like. Once again, Michael C Hall continues to be under used in this post-Six Feet Under/Dexer world we live in.
