For a movie that skirts around the struggle between men being possessively jealous of their women and simply treating women as purchasable objects it sure chose a mannish looking woman. And THAT is how you write a sexist review.

Incredibly stupid premise. Even Demi Moore's sweet ass circa '93 wasn't worth $1,000,000 bucks. Fuck that noise. The acting is silly too with lots of forlorn dramatic pauses and pensive looks. Yawn.

Each of us has a few of those movies that just piss you off by their mere existence and the fact that perhaps millions of hours of human attention were wasted on their bullshit. I suppose this is one of mine.

Story about two people who become millionaires and then look super fucking miserable about it scored to the cheesiest music of the 90s. My favorite bit is when a newly millionaire Demi Moore takes a second job. Definitely what I’d do upon becoming a millionaire, keep my one job AND take a second job. Super lame when Demi and Robert Redford just kiss like once and we fade tastefully to black. C’mon I hit play on this so I could see old man Robert Redford nutting. Gotta see that old man nut

I was surprised to find it as compelling as I did. I may not agree with some of the things the characters do and find some of the motivations and reactions off base, but I think the film did a really good job of presenting all of these characters as people and their motivations and emotions and fears in a reasonably considerate way. Maybe Redford's character could have been a bit more developed but even though I think it falters, the film does try.

Seems almost quaint by modern standards. I can't imagine anyone turning down a million bucks to fuck Robert Redford, especially the two goofs in this movie who were obviously shallow losers desperate for cash.

When your movie has a premise like this, and you opt for serious melodrama instead of comedy, you don't deserve to be making movies...

The plot is weak. It takes the premise that everyone can be bought. Then sets about demonstrating that: anyone can be bought, and that being bought ultimately leads to misery. In other words, it takes the textbook morals and puts them on screen, with no surprises, and not even any real attempt persuasion. This isn't edgy its sunday school.

Controversial in 1993, but the treatment receiving the script and direction are not the height of the controversial issue raised.

I can't stand this movie. I like the actors. I like Robert Redford and Woody Harrelson. The story is interesting. A million dollars if you let your wife have an affair? What I can't stand is the message. In the end, Redford feels sorry for Harrelson's character and decides to give the wife back. What is that? All that says to me is, "If you're struggling in life, be careful because the only way you'll get the girl is if a rich guy tosses one back to you. Nevermind love and all that junk."

Lovely melodrama from a long tradition of Hollywood doing these high-stakes love triangle things. Adrian Lyne adds his trademark fashion aesthetic, which to me is interesting and beautiful - it heightens the melodic aspect and carries the sentiment. Redford's character is a bit undefined, but Harrelson and Moore carry their roles well. The film finally is not about a shocking offer, but about how much a relationship is able to withstand.

The good point of the movie is the focus set on the dream as the actual mobile of our actions.Characters just figure out wanting "something" real, they actually just run after an unreachable dream.R.Redford's character does not want to just "catch" a woman but to win a bets and own her will. However, after an interesting psychologically intensive first part, the movie gets more and more stuck in a melodramatic poorly credible romance.Too many Hollywood-cliches-character such as the lawyer "buddy".

Sexy young emotionally unstable woman gets seduced by a lonely manipulative cunning billionaire. Wow, what a great love story! Also: "hey, we're piss poor, what shall we do??" "I know, let's spend all our remaining money in the casino!!!" Great rags to riches story. Also there's the occasional forced humour that is super out of place. Demi Moore is smoking hot, but plays a complete bitch. But on the positive side of moral aspect of the film, Harrelson's character grew up in the end! Wohoo!

What can you expect from a 90s mainstream movie? And how can a movie fail even those low expectations? Probably because it is horribly frigid for a movie about sex. And unsexy too.

The movie is as forgiving of its characters mistakes as they themselves are at the end. I actually think it's the best kind of hommage to love itself it could be. A young, impulsive, idealistic couple, who make mistakes and learn to live with them. They experience the realities of life and love, realizing human beings aren't angels (maybe that's what bothered most), and come out not broken, but still believing in it. True love that is. If that's not fucking romantic, Idk what is...

Held me enough to not be a complete train wreck. The overall struggle the main characters endure is interesting, you can emphasize with their conflict as a couple to a degree and that holds the film together enough that ,I at least, could watch it in its entirety. The film ultimately though has some incredibly immoral undertones and even overtones, whomever wrote the script I can't help but wonder, what was your true message and the intentions behind this film?

Excessive backstory and not enough reason to care about the characters. Before and after the proposal, everything plays out pretty predictably. The worst part is that Robert Redford gets a pass on stalking Demi Moore because he's so rich and supposedly handsome and good in bed? I didn't really believe he liked her and rather assumed he chose his victims solely based on their desperation for money, but that was left a bit murky. In any case I was not impressed.

It is a typical example of 90's movies.Famous with the quote 'The dress is for sale i am not.' I think this idea to sell your body for a huge money very humiliating to a woman and that is an insult! The romance effort in movie is just hilarious:)
