A cold western-era drama where we in flashbacks see why David Brian became such a ruthless and emotionless businessman. Doesn't quite find its mood as the acting ranged from comical to overly stiff, but it did have it's moments. Not sure if Lon Chaney Jr. was the best casting choice for that role, but at least he gave this film some color, for the rest was too deep in silent hatred to help the experience much.
