The first rule of Fight Club is - you do not talk about Fight Club. Oh wait, wrong movie. The first rule about making a live action version of a cartoon is that the cartoon still needs to be relavent. Second rule, you need to do the cartoon justice. Both rules were broken here. They made a sequal to this too, pity.

Dr. Claw steals the technology that allows Matthew Broderick to have a large proportion of his body replaced with machinery. With this technology, Claw intends to replace the army with robots, and he's considered a mad man. The desire to end the need to send people to die is considered insane in this film. Dubious morality aside, it is also notable for containing the inspiration for the racist robots from Transformers 2 in the form of the Gadgetmobile who holla's and aww-yeah's with gay abando

I wish I could say this film was saved by one of the sexy women with the last name Fisher. Unfortunately, instead of Jenna or Isla, they went with Joely. What a disappointment. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0c/Fisher,_Joely_(2007).jpg/220px-Fisher,_Joely_(2007).jpg

I nominate this movie for "90s Film Most Likely To Have Been Written While The Writers Were On Drugs". Not good at all, but kind of interesting to watch since one minute they have some sort of fresh idea (however half-baked, or just wrong), next minute they're showing profound laziness. Imagine a kids'-movie remake of _RoboCop 2_ and you're starting to get an idea of how truly whackdoodle this thing is

It felt like they didn't want to be making a kids' movie and they *really* didn't want to be making an Inspector Gadget movie. They don't even care about executing the cliche formulas, let alone integrating any of the elements people came to an Inspector Gadget movie for. At least Pittsburgh natives can have fun pointing out the different parts of the city this was shot in?

I guess a movie about Inspector Gadget probably shouldn't be expected to be Oscar material, but this movie is really, really dumb. Even a lot of the gadgets and gizmos from the cartoon feel clunkily executed here with cartoonish special effects and lots of bad puns. Also Rupert Everett as the villainous Claw hams it up and I remember the animated (usually unseen) Claw being way scarier.

I didn't mind it that much as a kid, and the fact some younger kid can be fooled and entertained for a bit by it is probably why I didn't score it lower. But in hindsight, that was a pretty bad movie. A shame for everyone involved

Inspector Gadget is a very bad movie for the most part. Everything hinges of Matthew Broderick being able to carry a movie by himself. But he is not a master unless given the right direction. Rupert Everett elevates the proceedings far higher than it really had any right to go.

Well cast and cleverly designed adaptation of the cartoon series promises to be a fun nostalgia kick but is ultimately defeated by an aggressively noisy, stupid and incoherent screenplay; brief running time suggests a lot of material hit the cutting room floor. A shame, because Broderick is as close to a perfect Inspector Gadget as you could hope for. Some amusing bits (and aggressive product placement) keep it watchable.

How the hell did David 'Cool As Ice' Kellogg land this job? It boggles the mind. The credits roll at 67 minutes, and they are padded out with additional scenes that were presumably removed from the original cut that was 40 minutes longer. In short, it has salvage job written all over it, and it's hard to tell whether its scattershot narrative is the result of bad writing or editing. Either way, it's a pretty poor mix of The Mask and Roger Rabbit, and only Broderick and Everett re-emerge intact.

I thought Rupert Everett's bad guy could save some of this film. That and original cartoon sounding like something that could offer a premise for a delightfully silly film. This wasn't silly, just boring and not well plotted.

Inspector Gadget is a poor kids film and at the time of its release I just remember thinking it was lame. To think of it the original kids cartoon wasn't great either. There's some moronic but fun gadgets for young kids to enjoy. But otherwise there's nothing else going for this film. And I was even stupid to think that Matthew Broderick could of been half decent in this film. How wrong I was.

What a mess. It's as if the directors never saw the original series. Penny should play a much bigger role (and what did they do with Brain, is it really that hard to hire a trained dog in Hollywood these days?), the Ebonics-speaking car sounds miscast, and the nefarious Dr. Claw is reduced to a caricature of his former self. Add in hideously blatant product placement, the worst example of which is a Yahoo! billboard taking up the entire screen as it falls on someone, while the Yahoo! yodel p
