Instructions Not Included

This film works in so many ways. Although it has one or two moments that are melodramatic, even those moments work well. The ending is truly impressive and it has several themes and messages that are very positive such as confronting fear and the power of love. I would love to share this film with as many family members as possible.

The girl is lovely, so the film is lovely.

The humor is so corny sometimes that it feels like one of the hundreds of American comedies from decades past. Still, the daughter is adorable; although I absolutely hated the ending at first for being so easy and manipulative, it really makes the rest of the film feel worthwhile.

I was expecting the usual comedy of an inept guy struggling to look after a child and for a while that's exactly what it was but it later develops into something more meaningful. Not the funniest comedy, nor the deepest drama but it works for what it is.

Instructions Not Included is certainly bizarre & quite funny, though possibly not intentionally. Derbez plays a similar character to his other roles in which I've enjoyed him. It starts of as a stereotypical comedy, but drastically shifts gears into melodrama worthy of a telenovela 30 mins from the end, before presenting a twist ending that almost had me on the floor laughing. I enjoyed a different country's portrayal of Americans. Technically not good, but ridiculous enough to be enjoyable.

Every now and then a film comes along that slips silently through the Hollywood net, surfacing unexpectedly at or near the top of the U.S. box office as scores of newfound fans find it and embrace it. With dialogue that's mostly in Spanish, Instructions Not Included (or No se Aceptan Devoluciones) is exactly such a case. (plugggedin.com)

It hits that perfect level of schmaltz that most of us crave now and again. "Instructions Not Included" is charming, funny, cute, and at times as fantastical as the world that Valentín creates for his daughter. At times it panders but in the meantime it createed a small cast of characters that I truly found myself liking.

Completely harmless if predictable, following only the basest of plots designed to tug at the heartstrings.

The movie is really slow and protracted and towards the end tries to be a tearjerker. The movie isnt very funny feels corny. Overall the movie's ending is not typical and what got this movie a higher score than I would have given it otherwise.
