A slightly odd, often unremarkable, but reasonably entertaining little effort, peppered with strange cameos (Bowie is great), The bulk of any charm it has comes from the two leads. Pfeiffer displays some fine timing, and Goldblum is compelling viewing as he so often is. It perhaps just feels a bit disjointed, and the plot probably isn't as interesting as it could have been. Might pass the time if you're in the mood, but I wouldn't really recommend it - might be an in-joke that only Landis gets.

This is a very strange movie, possibly a very unsuccessful attempt to do something moderately interesting, possibly just not very good, but something about it stayed with me despite its apparent utter triviality. At some point I might come back to this and attempt to describe what I think might have been going on here. The score I have given is probably too high.

Another tedious entry in the tedious "wow what a crazy day" genre (see: After Hours, Something Wild).

As much wish fulfillment fantasy for men as a romance novel is for women. Given that, its best weapon is Pfeiffer who's beautiful even if her acting isn't always what it would become. Goldblum is also perfect as an average guy who's so sleep-deprived he moves through the film in a semi-daze. The problem however is the film also lacks momentum: the relationship between the 2 leads is so unrushed & plausibly drawn it lacks urgency or heat & the goofy goons detract from any sense of danger

Right behind Something Wild and After Hours when it comes to great yuppie-in-peril movies. Notable for its slew of great cameos and Jeff Goldblum's brilliant performance. I love Jeff Goldblum. One of my favorite Community jokes is "Jeff, you're Goldbluming."

Pretty awful 1980s fossil, yes, in the same format as things like After Hours and Something Wild, but with a considerably less compelling arrangement of cliches and none of the charm. Lots of cameos though.

The supreme 80's movie: big hair, seqinned party dresses, Raybans, Ferraris and the ultimate collection of cameos, featuring more future has-beens and pre-rehab celebrities ever collected for one travesty of a storyline. By the thirty minute mark, it's apparent that John Landis really just wanted to cast his industry buddies in a feature (regardless of their lack of acting ability). Slow, confused, and painfully unfunny, this is John Landis in Kafka Goes to Hollywood.

This was a really mixed bag for me. I enjoyed the 80's feels and overall, it's an entertaining movie. It's got an incredicle cast (Michelle Pfeiffer, Jeff Goldblum, David Bowie, Dan Aykroyd...) and a solid story to carry it through. The chase scene in the parking garage was way fun and there's a diverse cast of characters here. It just falls pretty firmly in the mediocre ratings for me. Fun enough, but didn't just entirely grab me. Might have worked as a shorter movie a little bit better.

Goldlum and Pfeiffer both are likable and have nice chemistry together, it's leisurely paced, making the movie pretty watchable. But there is a sense of urgency and suspense lacking for this movie to really make a lasting impact. David Bowie has a very funny little supporting role. But most fun of all is to play a game of spot the director in this, see of you can spot all 17 of them!

I saw this billed by Edgar Wright as an LA counterpart to After Hours, a similarity which runs much deeper than their plots. Gone is the frantic, existential anxiety of that film, replaced with an aloof and bizarrely cruel indifference to both the violence it depicts and the narrative cause-and-effect that ostensibly moves the film along. There's an enjoyable sketch or two, and I do adore any glimpse into bygone LA nightlife, but ennnh.

A trilha sonora, como sempre em Landis, é uma atração à parte. Jeff Goldblum também ajuda, com sua expressão ímpar de 'loser'; e Michelle Pfeiffer, além de bela, sabe atuar."

Under Quarantine Film Review #5: A total dud. Both leads were decent with special guest Bowie being a highlight but that's about it. Landis never manages to bring character into his LA and that it is its ultimate downfall. In addition, the comedy was sparse and the inclusion of his pals as cameos was incredibly heavy-handed.

A nocturnal jaunt through Los Angeles, sort of "After Hours" on the West Coast. The banal caper plot benefits from a pair of good lead performances and strong direction from John Landis, who peppers the fairly banal plot points with odd details and beguiling late-night atmosphere. Comedy and thriller ingredients sit together (intentionally) queasily, perhaps channeling bad vibes from Landis' real-life circumstances (shooting coincided, I think, with the trial over the Twilight Zone deaths).

Mildly amusing but kinda odd in a good way. Soundtrack is pretty horrible even for the 80's.

I love "one crazy night" movies. This may actually take place over two nights, but the energy is there is create some pretty entertaining chaos. Preiffer is adorable and Goldblum is restrained enough to give a pretty good guy-out-of-his-element vibe that really works. There are plenty of small gags that really work and the numerous cameos may be a bit masturbatory but they are fun.

I want to like this movie more than I do. I think it's just 30 mins too long, should be a 90 minute movie
