1985 was the year for Over-the-Top Action Masterpieces. Arnie had "Commando", Sly had "Rambo: First Blood II" and Chuck Norris has "Invasion U.S.A.". If the idea of Chuck Norris in a denim tuxedo sporting Uzi's akimbo turns you on, this movie is for you.

It's technically an awful movie, with some of the worst plotting, dialogue, and acting committed to celluloid in the last hundred years, but it's swimming in a hysterical soup of cheesy 80s action / Reagan-era paranoia that gives it a dash of guilty pleasure value. One to watch with lots of junk food at 3 AM on Saturday night, but under no other circumstances. Chuck Norris wrestles an alligator.

This was my first Chuck Norris movie and I was expecting 90 minutes of awesome action entertainment similar to Schwarzenegger or Stallone films, but damn, this film was boring. I guess Norris lacks the charm of the aforementioned actors since he is just some sort of weirdly dressed apathetic bearded plant with strong homosexual overtones.I used to think Chuck Norris jokes were funny, now I don't get them anymore.

A bit dull, all things considered. Norris is woefully underused - he eventually starts dispensing some denim-clad justice with uzis, but his arse-kicking skills just aren't displayed to the fore. Genre stalwarts Billy Drago and Richard Lynch also fail to shine here. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, or too sober, but I didn't care for it in 1985 and I don't care much for it now. Perhaps one for Cannon Films completists...

like an especially mean spirited red dawn...i mean there's not even a story..terrorists just come to terrorize so after we watch them kill a lot of civilians and children Norris shows up wherever they are like an omniscient teleporting denim avenger to kill them instead. This should be right up my niche but it just lacks fun or heart. Its not without its moments, I'll give it that but overall i wish i hadnt been suckered into this..a sentiment with every norris film i watch..when will i learn

It's a bit slower than you'd expect from a 1985 Cannon film starring Chuck Norris, but that doesn't really matter when Chuck finally starts kicking asses and shooting UZIs. Norris is so tough that even bad guy has constant nightmares about him, and his whole master plan collapses due to his obsession with Norris. Hilarious end scene: "Time to die".

Invasion U.S.A. is one of the few Chuck Norris/Cannon collaborations that is actually tolerable. From the huge back catalogue of 80's action films, this ranks low. But despite still being a poor and disjointed film, by Cannon's standards this is fairly decent and there's several memorable moments. Chuck Norris' introduction on a swamp craft, the double denim and Uzi shoot outs, the demoltion through the shopping mall and the Bazooka "time to die" finale... It's all ridiculosuly enjoyable.

Just about acceptable in terms of dumb action entertainment. It has a gloriously stupid concept and plenty of moderately budgeted explosive mayhem but really lacks any kind of plot or character hook to keep you engaged. Chuck Norris is boring and unamusingly cringy and the entire structure is just a series of increasingly mechanical set pieces. It's a tiresome kind of movie that only works as a background distraction you glance at every now & then. Nowhere near the top of the Cannon trash heap.

My first Chuck Norris film, though I thought he was pretty flat, especially the delivery of his one-liners, and didn't have that much of a kick-ass presence. However, this ludicrous story of terrorism is gleefully brought to life and, in terms of action, is milked for all its worth -- there's probably more explosions and gunfire in this than there has been in entire wars.

On one level I find this movie hilarious because it's the most 80's Hollywood depiction of terrorism in the most idiotic way possible and Chuck Norris' non-chalant line reads are hilarious. On the other hand, this movie is just insanely boring. The plotting is a total mess and its attempts at trying to turn Norris into some psychological horror is a dull failure. The action scenes are also extremely repetitive and on all fronts the movie is way too technically basic to be enjoyable.

Chuck Norris is a low-rent Stallone at best and Sylvester isn't known for his acting abilities. Unlike another 80's action star Arnold, who despite his obvious acting deficiencies is fairly charismatic, Norris is just a constant bore. The film has all the joyous stupidity of a Cannon action film but the whole thing feels very flat, largely because of the lead.

Chuck Norris has two Uzis and know how to use them. Unfortunately the writers and director didn't know how to set up a scene and connect scenes naturally into a well flowing plot or even how to align two shots properly. The action is too little to totally make-up for these shortcomings, but enough to not dislike this.

Brief moments of awesomeness, but the 80's had no shortage of action movies packed full of butt kicking awesome. I haven't seen much of Norris before, but his reputation to my generation is inescapable, honestly, I'd rather just watch a couple of dozen bowflex commercials instead.
