Invasion of the Saucer Men

Rating based on childhood memories. We didn't know or care about art or auteur theory. We went to the show as often as we could. For some reason the creatures in this film stayed in my head as the way aliens would look. I was at the age of looking up to teens and teens in the film were cool and the thing that stuck with me all these years was the hypodermic fingers of the little green men (blk&wht movie) injecting people with alcohol. Now that was a fun thought.

Hokey slab of 50s sci-fi works pretty well within its own parameters; while the opportunities for genuine shock and horror have dated, the design and makeup of the saucer men is still surprisingly unsettling, especially in a remarkably savage and brutal encounter with the local wildlife. Performances are as good as the typically melodramatic screenplay allows. A better than average example of a somewhat disreputable genre.

Typical studio b-fare but there are a few enjoyable bit, like alien v. bull, and the whole stupid movie achieves summation in a pleasingly stupid fashion.

For not being from Earth, Saucer Men tend to know a surprising amount about U.S. jurisprudence.
