Irish Destiny

Irish Destiny tells the story of Denis O'Hara, an IRA volunteer, who joins in response to the behavior of the Black and Tans. There's lots here that you'll see reflected in The Wind that Shakes the Barley. It's one of the four of five indigenous feature films made in Ireland at the time and definitely has a pro-Ireland slant. Documentary footage places the action nicely in context.

Silent Irish drama about the IRA. Naturally it got banned in the UK. This did have the makings of a good film. So why didn't it connect with me? It was a little all over the place, but rarely where it should have been. Didn't get suspense from the scene's that should have come. Instead of the suspense being from the IRA vs the British forces, it came forcefully over a girl which felt like a very desperate turn of events at the end to create excitement in this movie. Plus too much stock footage.
