With a whole lot of ingenuity and brass balls a bunch of Finns have managed to create a great looking effects driven spectacle; and as such Iron Sky should be applauded for being an inspirational tale. Unfortunately the movie itself misses most of its beats, overstating jokes and dropping the ball on several otherwise decent plot points, leaving a well-meaning, good-looking but somewhat messy experience.

I wish they had played this more straight, and let the sets, props and setting take care of the humor. The ending, which I found shockingly beautiful, would have been all the more evocative. I kept catching myself thinking about things I would have done differently - the film doesn't seem to realize that it actually has a lot to say, and it renders itself a bit moot by continually ladling on (often poor) jokes. I was quite entertained, and it did many things right, so I'll cut it some slack.

This can't decide what it wants to be. Is it a low-brow spoof? An intentionally campy B-movie? Something more darkly comedic in the vein of Dr. Strangelove? With the impressive indie CGI, the cinematic references, the sci-fi sensibilities, and the self-aware sense of humor, I *really* wish I could love this. Unfortunately, it just didn't work, and therefore was never really that good. The intentions, whatever they were, were clearly a lot smarter and better than the movie we ended up with.

Iron Sky has lots of great and clever ideas, but also lots of really stupid ones. The retro-scifi technology is pretty cool and the visual effects are stunning (especially considering the budget), but some of the jokes were just too lame. Still enjoiable.

It's not the worst Nazi-related movie that came out in 2012 (that dubious honor goes to Baby Geniuses 3: The Final Solution) but ye gods, this was a total dud. Some of the CGI looks nice I guess, but this was definitely one of those movies that looks fun as a one-sentence premise and completely falls apart as a 90 minute feature.

Hmmmmm. This didn't quite work. Oh, I see the attempt at campy B-movie-ness, but it switches messily between goofy comedy with comedy characters, idealistic attempts at deep characterization, cynical black comedy with flat characters, straight-up action, and serious social commentary - and these moments clash, instead of providing interesting contrast. The cinematography is wonderful, and the soundtrack is awesome, but it doesn't play as the satirical parody it's trying to be.

Not enough satire for my taste and sometimes the movie had its lengths and got really boring. Effectswise it was pretty good. "Götterdämmerung" was really impressive. Götz Otto did a good job.

Pretty fun movie to watch. Lots of spoofs in there which makes you go 'aha!' when you see them. CGI is impressive esp. when you realize how low the budget is. Concept is nice. The plot can be all over the place though. Also there is not really a central character here. The satire is heavy-handed and a bit rough on the edges. What appealed to me the most was the combination of B-movie elements with high production value - it felt stands out (in a good way) among the movies made these days.

Really entertaining for a movie that isn't good. Like it did well at parodying when it tried but other times it tried to take itself too seriously or too jokingly and ruined the tone of the movie. There were good parts (great B movie CGI, and funny premise), and bad (acting and execution), but I'd say depending on who you are this could be worth a watch.

Definately a huge love/hate movie for everybody. Luckily for me, it was the former! References to numerous movies, nazi-tastic story, soundtrack and execution (amazing CGI and acting for such a low budget) make a really unique and satirical movie that's just incredibly enjoyable to watch.

Does not go nearly far enough in its effort to be a parody and/or cheese-fest. Humor mostly revolves around the worst kind of heavy handed, hyper-liberal "the US is a big dumb bully" kinds of jokes. CG effects are surprisingly not terrible. +10 points for the actually funny North Korea joke.

It doesn't really work as satire. It doesn't work as a dark comedy. The acting is poor. The jokes are something you would expect from 10 year olds. The concept itself could have worked with a funny script with better execution. As it stands it's a piss poor film that attempts to be something over the top and is just silly stupid instead. I give them credit for even attempting something like this but it's no killer klowns from outer space or even a so bad it's funny gayniggers from outer space.

There's some decent humour but a lot of the satire falls a bit flat. Playing it deadly serious and letting the ridiculousness of the premise play out would have worked better. The FX are utterly fantastic for a no-budget film, better than what millions of Hollywood dollars were producing a couple of years ago. Despite the shortcomings it's still great fun to watch and further proof that film-making is for everyone now, and indie directors can compete with the best Hollywood production values.

A wonderfully campy movie about Nazi's hiding a base on the dark side of the moon. The cast did a fantastic job, the visuals were really quite stunning and the crazy campyness had no end with a female president that I guess was supposed to be Sarah Palin and she apparently has a hot evil campaign manager. All the jokes seemed to be aimed at conservatives but I wasn't offended. I thought that Julia Dietze played an excellent German beauty, even though she was born in France. Great fun!

To 200gms of science fiction, 100gms of nazi war mongering steampunk and 100gms blatant american bashing, add a splash of gratuitous sex, a bucket of schoolkid humour, enough cheese to swamp everything, unbelievably bad acting, and a chronically weak script and half bake everything for 90 mins. I hate films that try to mix genre's. If you are going to do it you have to decide WHICH genre is going to dominate (such as "Evolution") otherwise you are left with a tasteless mess called Iron Sky

Top badass moment? Moon Nazis; what’s not to like? Just like Star Wreck it looks and sounds amazing. It's also hilarious, but not funny ha-ha, peculiar or so bad it's good; it's more WTF just happened there? It also feels a bit un-PC, but not in a good way; I guess time and BLM can do that. At least the Germans speak German. The gorgeous Peta Sergeant gets all the best lines, which she devours without even chewing them first. A unique bit of cinema. Sometimes when a film comes out that is knowingly self aware of its silly premise it seems to say "Look, we both know why we're here, you just want to see us do this funny idea." If it were a Hollywood film, chances are it would be rubbish because it would forget that there should be a story to go along with it. This, being a low budget Finnish film, does have that self awareness (how could it not? I mean... Moon Nazi's) but there is also a story and it's not a bad one, if you like satire.
