This is such an Elia Suleiman joint, and I love me some Elia Suleiman. I love his slapsticky political super funny films and this did not disappoint. Another meditation on what it means to be Palestinian and especially a Palestinian filmmaker. Special nod to Suleiman as an actor. He is so damn good at reacting to the absurdity of things around him that he is 100% delightful.

An extraordinary slice of life. By the end of it I was laughing out loud! A not so subtle critique of various western cultures, and homeland situation which must be awfully hard to be part of. He's a gifted film maker and I must find more films by him.

Elia gets more and more pessimistic as he extends his criticism and mockery to the western world and its so called liberties. France and US are big prisons with constant surveillance and police force. What for? To protect rich white moms in Central Park and beautiful & nihilistic bodies' right to consume. Also, Elia is a silent watcher. He becomes a human-camera that travels and investigates for us. This 'camera within the film' trick is an interesting feature of Elia's cinema.

ZAZ slapstick comedy, but with Suleiman's subtle look at a world constantly at war with itself. The fact that he manages to find comedy through absurdist situations is just amazing, in an almost no-liner narrative -- eerie scenes seem like they were shot during the Covid-19 pandemic. Cab driver amazed after meeting a Palestinian, Americans going places heavily armed and young Palestinians in a party trying to live as normal people. Sometimes irregular and out of pace, but always rewarding.

Elia Suleiman'dan politik taşlama. Evinde mutlu mesut komşularıyla yaşayan Elia, önce Fransa, sonra da New York'a gider.

Great, slow-burning comedy that works by caricaturing everyday life and the wonderfully absurd people in it. The (sparsely used) CGI takes a bit away from the masteful situational comedy and the movie as a whole is about 20 minutes too long. Otherwise great.

E.S. is the silent observer in a mostly quiet film. surprisingly heartwarming, with delicate visual metaphor and irony.
it does not draw false parallels between palestine and the rest of the world, but orients you to look for them.
struggling to agree with the pervasive comparisons to roy andersson.
