It Runs in the Family

KIRK is the only GOOD thing about this movie!!! I LOVE KIRK!!! Kirk is awesome!!! :)

ON GOLDEN DOUGLAS - An irresistible team up of the Douglases comes up frustratingly short, thanks to a shallow and too busy screenplay packed with a *lot* of subplots; Kirk fairs best of the cast, but the much anticipated confrontations between father and son feel shoe-horned in, as if the Douglas gimmick was utilised to bring weight to a screenplay that wasn't coming together. Schepisi feels like an odd gun-for-hire fit, but he does bring some stylish compositions and set-ups to the table.

It was a nice idea to have all those 3 generations of an acting family work together. However they could have used a better script. Some characters have things too nicely wrapped up by the end of the film.

Its sweet idea to get real family members (Douglas family) to act in movie which deals with family issues, aging and respect. And its great to see Kirk Douglas back in movie screen. In other aspects movie is crap.

The movie attempts to explore the internal conflicts of all the members of the family. It might have been a better film if it narrowed its focus. Still, I found the interactions engaging and found it worth watching.

loved the chemistry between people who are actually related. although the plot can be a bit sparse in the begining, it picks up with some great cinema at the end. as a whole this movie is only slightly above average.
