Having expected the very worst of mainstream romantic comedy clichés this was a very pleasant surprise. First, the characters r shockingly consistent &, 4 the most part, behave like intelligent adults, plus there's a handful of laughs; best of all however is the fact that there's a genuine unpredictability 2 the story given that Baldwin and Martin are equally likeable & Streep winding up w/ either one of them (or neither) seems equally possible.

It's not complicated, it's dull. And it's many years too late to want to see an almost naked Alec Baldwin.

I suppose old people need romantic comedies too and this isn't too bad. While the whole situation isn't one that sparks my interest the leads are good enough and the writing funny enough that it was reasonably enjoyable.

An unlikable mess where Steve Martin is the only character on screen you don't repulse. I may of smiled once or twice but this was painfully boring for the most part. Felt like a massive swing and a miss.

I'm obviously not old enough to really appreaciate this movie. It's a romcom intended for lonely rich people around fifty and I would hazard a guess that they would find it interesting and fun. I found it somewhat dreary and pathetic. The Baldwin shennanigans are weird and hardly touching and even Streep can't really save this movie. Worth a watch if you find yourself in the first paragraph (50 year old, divorced, rich, bored)

The level of affluence -- not to forget level of gourmet cuisine -- removes all other problems, so that a hypothetical air prevails. In truth, it's complicated enough already. (The chorus of confidantes drops out of sight when we need them most.) Streep brings to her role her usual fine detail and wide dynamics, and Baldwin brings an amusing girth.

Charming at times, although by the end Steve Martin's the only character you can really still sympathize with. Feels directionless, but fans of mild wit may get a kick out of it. Not terrible, but terribly dull.

Near the end, especially, Meyers seems to want to actually say something, but she drowns what little emotional heft she could've had in misplaced sentimentality and formulaic comic gestures. Even this effervescent cast can't save It's Complicated.

it's complicated is a romantic comedy that sticks to the mental conventions of its genre, it doesn't challenge you to twist your perception or make you think but it entertains you in very simple ways, it makes you laugh and it makes you go "aww". however, it has its share of flaws, namely the last part of the movie where you really believe it's complicated and wish it really was not and it would all end instead of dragging on. still, it's complicated is a decent effort and should be seen by fans

Yet another well-crafted Myers confection in which a divorced middle-aged woman (Streep) with a fabulous career, a fabulous house and a thrice-fabulous kitchen undergoes a sexual re-awakening--this time, with her remarried ex-husband (Baldwin). Then--as if she didn't have enough problems--she becomes attracted to the shy architect (Martin) she has hired to build an even more fabulous home-addition housing an even more fabulous kitchen! Slick and well-acted, but forgettable and superficial.

Meryl Streep's comeback as a box-office shark throws me for a loop. With "Doubt" and "Prada" came the stink of "Mamma Mia" and this disappointing comedy. Nancy Meyers recycles jokes from "Something's Gotta Give" and piles them on an amusing sitcom premise. Too bad the movie isn't as smart or funny as it wants to be. Despite Steep and Steve Martin holding their own, the movie doesn't connect enough. The gags feel a bit phony, and I didn't get wrapped up in the vying relationships.

There is what I call a palate cleanser. Did you just watch something terrible or soul-shattering? Pop in It's Complicated! Maybe you just watched Repulsion, or a snuff film, or an episode of The Big Bang Theory. If so, pop in It's Complicated! Nancy Meyers has created one of the most middling pieces of anything in history. But the cast has fun, the script has a few chuckles, and Hans Zimmer's acoustic jingles are like white wine on a sunny beach.

Mistakes - 1) When Jane is drinking a martini at the bar, before the meal arrives, her hands are constantly changing positions between shots, from holding the glass to being on the table to being up by her face. 2) When Jane and Adam are rolling the dough for the croissants, there is a closeup on a hand cutting the dough in v-shapes, which is a man's hand even though Jane is the one cutting.

One part 'Alec Baldwin can't seem to dial down insincerity any more'. A cup 'Steve Martin seems to be somewhere else entirely'. Drizzle in a bit of 'Meryl Streep is bangin' hot, if over-the-top neurotic'. Put these ingredients in a Pottery Barn catalog, shake, and plate. Serves no one very well.

Like with all other Nancy Meryers films, this one is funny and entertaining, not too heavy in terms of plot, however heavy enough to touch on certain aspects of current social-demographic ongoings, i.e. the 70s generation having to cope with getting old, the young generation being somewhat more conservative.

"It's Complicated" is enjoyable to watch for at least 2/3 of the movie. Seeing Baldwin, Streep and Martin portray lonely aging people being reinvigorated by romance is truly smile-invoking. However, the goodheartedness of the movie turns sour when you realize that a very innocent person is getting ready to be hurt. Simply, the final act is not funny. I wish the scriptwriter could have been a little more savvy when tying up all the loose ends. Partly enjoyable. ., but could have been better.

Definitely, if nothing else, a funny movie with a great Streep performance. Baldwin and Martin definitely hold their own as well. Krasinski's character is definitely hilarious, but really nothing more. Really anyone in the film aside from the 3 leads, in particularly their friends and children, are incredibly flat. Perhaps a flashback or some one-on-one scenes would have fleshed out just why they are so upset at the end. At certain points the dialogue is on point, at other times wordy.

Oh god, I couldn't wait for it to end. Just because it doesn't wrap up in a nice neat bow at the end doesn't make it good. I didn't understand at all why the characters reacted like they did (particularly the kids). Then the pivotal scene basically just has everyone get high and start laughing. Steve Martin even does weird dancing. Is that what comedy is? How do people like this?

I LOVED John Krasinski's character. This is the rare romantic comedy that actually tries to do something different. It wasn't a laugh a minute, but there were several scenes where I was cracking up. There should be more romantic comedies for the 40-plus set. After all, it's not like love stops the minute after you turn 35.

How refreshing for once to have a film about a family that is not miserable or dysfunctional. Meryl Streep's character, as a divorced mom of three very well adjusted young people, the eldest of whom is engaged to the nicest young man on the planet seems to have it all. Baldwin as the incorrigible ex husband and Martin as the earnest new love interest are both charming. Many hilarious scenes.

I enjoyed aspects of this. Baldwin is particularly good, making a real meal out of a character that would be repugnant in most actor's hands. I cared enough about the situation to want to see Martin and Streep get together ... that's something. This movie did NOT need 15 straight minutes of jokes about Streep and Martin being high.

Look! It's Donald Trump hitting on Meryl Streep! No wonder he was so pissed about what she said about him at the Oscars. -- As far as I can tell, this movie does nothing to advance the idea of a Nancy Meyers movie beyond its already narrow definition. Mostly harmless.

Usually family drama shit totally and easily gets me. This one didn't. Maybe because of the annoyingly large amount of cheerfulness and innocence. And even though knowing what they wanted seemed to constantly pose such a major obstacle to the main characters, I can't really hate it. Maybe cause of its cool cast and performances. I mean, there actually was some good stuff in there. Some. But, then again, watching rich people make bad decisions for 2 hours is not what interests me in movies.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Full of nauseatingly rich people and their petty little problems. Steve Martin was unexpectedly muted and Alec Baldwin was expectedly sleazy. There are some funny moments, most of which involve John Krasinski's character (who stole the show). If you want a truly complicated story watch Precious. But if you are old, affluent, and crave old jokes about old people and laugh-less situational comedy, then be my guest and enjoy It's Complicated.

It is a romantic comedy, so do not expect nothing much out of the ordinary. But still, it's a fun movie with good actors in their best types of characters, as Steep, Baldwin, Martin and even John Krasinski.

Inane, phony and empty-headed. What's more, it's borderline offensive in its complete detachment from the problems that most people experience, positing as the height of stress the planning of an expensive addition to the already sizable house. Some of this could be forgivable if the comedy was funny in the slightest, but there's a barely a laugh to be found in the strained story that wants so desperately to be farce, but no involved wants to sully their hands with such crass entertainment.
