Izzy Gets the Fuck Across Town is a decent distraction. When it eventually hits VOD platforms, it might be worth a rental.

Indie road trip movies can fly up their own asses pretty quick. This one kind of does once or twice, but as a whole, it's plenty enjoyable. Mackenzie Davis is good at playing a vile trainwreck with an excuse for being a vile trainwreck (admittedly a bad one), but also at being relatable in some pretty awful ways. As an aside, is Alia Shawkat capable of being cast for any role besides Maeby Funke?

Izzy Gets the Fuck Across Town has a lot of the trademarks of an indie flick; title cards, shouty actors, split frames. I didn't enjoy the film for two reasons; first the occasional wittiness and poignancy gets lost in the sea of quirkiness; second the film dragged. As vignettes of hectic adventures, Davis shows her skill, though the energy is often determined by her scene partner. Osment, Coon and Shawkat were good.

This thing is a rollercoaster and I'm not sure what to think after one viewing. The only thing I'm sure of is that Mackenzie Davis did an outstanding job
