Hear ye, hear ye! For sooth there be PG bosoms. This movie looks like farts and diseases.

It's just Gilliam testing his viability as an artist outside that comedy troupe he belonged to. The result is somewhat incoherent, but visually interesting. Really, it's a stop gap between Python and Time Bandits, and a footnote in Gilliam's strange (and expensive) oeuvre.

Early Gilliam outing that's a bit shaky but worthwhile.

When a kingdom is terrorized by a huge evil beast, a sequence of rather silly events and coincidences leave it up to a simpleminded cooper's apprentice named Dennis to save the day. This Python-esque material probably would have been fantastic as an episode of the Flying Circus, but seems awfully thin stretched out to feature length. The monster actually looks pretty cool...until it moves, which immediately betrays how rickety and fragile the whole contraption is.

You won't be screaming with laugher, it is more something tongue and cheek about medieval time and movies happening in medieval time. I guess I liked the "world building" they had going on with the setting and the large amount of extras and characters making up the regular people. The end feels a bit rushed however, like they were running out of ideas suddenly. Over all interesting and light fun

There were 3 or 4 times my mouth curled upward into a smile, that's about it.

A real disappointment from Gilliam. Some parts are funny, but too much just doesn't work.

Just doesn't click for the majority of the film.

Inauspicious debut for Gilliam. Thankfully he moved on to bigger and better films.

Same vein as Monty Python but often falls flat.

Sort of amusing, in a moronic way.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail: The Unfunny Outtakes. So much of the Holy Grail DNA is on display here, but none of the humour works anywhere close to as well as in its classic forefather. Michael Palin is a comedic legend and he amuses throughout despite the weak material he's given, but otherwise there really isn't a single redeeming factor. This only serves as a curiosity with respect of the genius director that Terry Gilliam would become after this film.

Terry Gilliam first non-Python movie was a disappointment. It's not funny enough for a comedy, but also doesn't work as a pure medieval adventure fantasy movie.

"Jabberwocky" has trouble finding its identity. It fails to utilize the absurd humor that propelled "Holy Grail" to success. Unfortunately, its plot is written in a slapstick comedy style and needs more details, resulting in an underwhelming story. This film lacks wit and tells a foolish tale that elicits more sadness than laughter.

Promising but problematic, too . . . filled with ugly characters doing uglier things, but hard to dismiss. Palin is excellent, easily the best actor of all the Pythons -- but John Le Mesurier runs away with it and is the only one in the cast who really makes me laugh. A wonderful monster at the end. Slithy toves indeed.

There's a lot of imagination here, but it just seemed to not know if it was a comedy, fantasy, romance, political satire, or a critical view on capitalism. There are many did-you-catch-that moments; I expected at least a few of them to pay off later but I don't remember any that did. I might have liked this more had I seen it in my "absurd humor" teenage years.

quite decent production value, for far too few really good jokes.

Hard to recommend, other than for the curiosity of being an early, quirky (of course) Terry Gilliam movie. Suffers from setting up either story, jokes or action scenes perfectly fine, but then just going through the (slow) motions of making them land. Lacks punchiness. Got a few mild chuckles from me though.

Ridiculous, stupid, nonsense, but that's sort of the point of this movie. Everything is inane, so if you are a fan of that, you will love this. I can't remember laughing out loud, except regarding how badly this film had been made.
