(Director's Cut) Gripping thriller which impresses with its frenetic pace and seemingly impenetrable (excuse the pun) mystery. Our immersion in the events is heightened by Friedkin's snappy direction - a great example of how to cut straight to the heart of a scene and leave early. Style is often favoured over logic, leaving the viewer to imagine what is going on rather than handholding them through it. The ending is rushed and doesn't truly satisfy, but the journey there is great entertainment.

Along with Poison Ivy (or maybe its sequel), the box of this always seemed so tantalizing to my young mind walking around Blockbuster. An erotic thriller in name only, unless boxes of pubic hair is erotic to you. This does feature a cool car chase that goes for what feels like ten minutes. Actually, other than the chase, a lot of this film feels longer than it actually is.

About the only things I remember from this film are that David Caruso looks like a nerd trying to be a stud and the little wooden box of pubic hair. Ewwww.

Complete miss from Friedkin. Maybe I should watch the director's cut. I have never cared for Fiorentino or Caruso though.

Jade is an intriguing movie. Although the front cover suggests that this movie is an erotic thriller, the fact that David Caruso stars in this film as a detective makes it feel more like a crime drama mixed in with a little CSI. Although this film has some pretty sexy scenes, the gore that this movie provides by hatchet, car or harpoon can quickly ruin the sexy vibe you think you'll get from the film. Don't get me wrong Linda Fiorentino pushes the sex appeal just on her own.

Nowhere near as bad as its reputation suggests, but it's pitched awkwardly between cheap exploitation and a serious psychological thriller about the consequences of unleashed desire. Whether Friedkin or Eszterhas is to blame is open to debate, but it's clear that there was a much better film in here crying to get out. Caruso was miscast and has no real presence, but Fiorentino sizzles as the femme fatale, and Friedkin creates a dark and seductive noirish atmosphere of suspicion and sleaze.

This mystery/thriller has a bit of a noir feel to it which helps keep it interesting. Well made and well acted and Florentino can sure do the sultry scenes. Also has some fairly graphic violent scenes, all of this makes an unfairly low rating by many. My honest opinion is the whole flick is a little better than the average flick

I like this, probably more than it deserves--principally because Fiorentino is so sexy in it. It's no "Last Seduction," but Friedkin does a decent job at creating a noir atmosphere.

Be David Caruso in "Jade." Oh, ok, I know exactly what you're talking about.

A thoroughly underwhelming erotic thriller, or at least it calls itself that, that has dumb twists that aren't well set up and don't really work. The performances are all pretty underwhelming. It's not the worst movie in the world or anything, but it kind of feels like a glorified CSI Miami episode in many respects. The atmosphere works at times and there's a pretty good car chase, but other than that, not much to see here.
