Jailbird Rock

Someone got the legitimately brilliant idea to do a "women in prison" movie, but as a musical. Sadly, this alleged musical features basically no singing or dancing besides what's seen in the mediocre talent show finale. Plus the "prison" these women are in is closer to something resembling a boarding school than any kind of correctional facility. This potentially amazing premise is wasted on a movie not sleazy enough to be an exploitation film or competent enough to be entertaining in any way.

A girl kills her father and is sent to a 5 years sentence of high school. The high school inmates and she decide to organize a DANCE show, for an audience and even governor. There are some dance offs in between, and the scene in the isolation cells are...different. The walls are paper thin and the girl decides to dance (to music?) for no reason, and everyone hears her do that and start clapping and dancing too. QUA-LI-TY.
