Janis: Little Girl Blue

Janis Joplin's story is a heartbreaking one, depressingly similar to that of Amy Winehouse, but from a time when the press was less hysterical, the music was better and talent mattered more than looks.

Not sure if it was the subject or the doc makers but, I had little interest in her or her music before this, and still don't. Some uninteresting letters between dimly remembered stories and faint praise from talking heads.

Well-made. For those of you who liked "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck" and "Amy", this is almost on par. However, personally, with one notable exception ("Piece of My Heart"), I'm not crazy about her songs.

This is an interesting documentary about singer Janis Joplin. They use some of her real letters in the film and they have interviews with several people that knew her. Overall I would recommend this documentary.

A lovely documentary about the girl with the raspy voice....
