Wow. I am ashamed of all of you. I come on here knowing that this film falls into the category of one of the worst films I have ever seen in my entire life, and i see that most of you are pretty content with the film because Diablo Cody wrote it, and Megan Fox is in it. God damn all you Juno fanboys, can't you all see that this movie is a plotless, poorly acted, terribly written piece of shit? I don't know whether I had more fun watching the film, or the knife that I wanted to kill myself with.

Extremely misunderstood, even by many vapid teens who enjoy it, a much richer, deeper film than most realize, functioning by turns as a Tarantino-esque send-up of B-horror films and teen comedies, a Scream-like campy, tongue-in-cheek meta-horror, a pitch black comedy, a surprisingly moving drama, a Carrie-like meditation on the horrors of high school, puberty, and sexual awakening (e.g. changes/desires one can't understand/control), a sapphic buddy picture, and a Christian feminist allegory.

About 5 actually funny jokes in this. The only thing that would make people want to see this is Megan Fox being hot. The movie itself is just stupid, boring and tedious. It's not clever, not interesting and not funny. There's no point in watching this when there are plenty of good black comedies that actually have black comedy in them. Skip this unless you love bad movies with hot women.

Disappointingly bland. Despite Cody's attempts at being iconic and (self)ironic, "Jennifer's Body" never really chooses between comedy and horror, which is as detrimental here, as it was effective in Raimi's far superior "Drag Me To Hell". The story weaves and staggers through the motions often unsure of where it's heading and instead preoccupied with quirky Cody's Wikipedia-topically horny dialogue. Points for the girl-on-girl-action and for a few almost quasi-scary scenes though.

It's almost impossible to get too much of Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox in her prime. This movie is a trip. A bad trip at times. I liked the director's scene choices and the attention to the female form. But, of course, the premise is a giant load of spooky hokum nonsense. Demons and devil worship is the centerpiece of the stupid story. The ending was cheap. A box cutter? Really? Somewhat entertaining, but basically just another high school slasher movie and every bit as forgettable.

No, it's not a good movie, but it's sure as hell not a boring one either - in fact, it might just be the least boring movie of 2009. Every five minutes something bizarre and / or interesting happens, be it murder, arson, cannibalism or Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried french kissing for absolutely no reason. Fox offers nothing except her looks, but Seyfried has a real unique off-kilter vibe to her. Maybe she can take the roles Brittany Murphy would have gotten. (Too soon?)

Hey guys! You did it wrong! You all rated it low and now my probability score is something like 45! How dare you! But really, mismarketed would be putting it lightly. It is definitely a sexy movie at times, but it’s themes of friendship and womanhood go way deeper than any of the overly sexualized posters and advertising for this. It’s a shame so many were likely chased away from something that’s delightfully campy and even scary at times. It gets better the more I let it sit with me.

I had the lowest possible expectations for this film. Given that Megan Fox is reliably terrible and Diablo Cody's dialogue wore off its welcome 15 minutes into Juno, I was prepared for the worst. The film was just so bizarre and off-kilter that it was mildly enjoyable. I remember seeing trailers that made this thing look like a straight up horror film, but it's really a horror-comedy satirizing high-school romance. Kind of reminded me of Idle Hands. Worth a drunken watch.

No, Diablo Cody your screenplay is not witty, clever or anything close to the neighborhood of good. Megan Fox should just retire as her horrible screen presence insults me. Even my soft spots for Brody and Simmons can't help this. It was flat out bad start to finish. Terrible in every way it tried and insightful lines like 'My tit' when being stabbed just made me want to end my existence.

Cody's fanciful and inconstant dialogue is piteous and often slows downs this middling teen horror homage. Seyfried and Fox were second-rate at best, but I wasn't walking in to see acting. I got what I expected in the end: A huge offbeat, aberrant and anomalous horror cliche that should obviously attract an audience consisted of, you guessed it: teens.

Am I the only one who sees this movie as a big, elaborate criticism of indie rock bands? Probably. Oh well. I enjoyed the movie. It was entertaining, campy, kinda sexy, with some capable cinematography (some nice shots like when the goth kid goes to meet Megan Fox... the street looked nice and properlys cary). Some of the dialogue was awful and Cody's style fit more with Juno but still, entertaining flick. Not amazing but well enjoyable.

This film was released, like, a decade too early. There is a reason why its receiving a critical re-evaluation. It's a queer coming-of-age tale that was misinterpreted, if only because the culture wasn't ready to accept these stories. On another note, this offered as a nice piece of nostalgia, even if my high school experience ended years prior. My ears perked up when I heard a Black Kids song, as I thought I was never going to think about that song again.

Who is this movie for? Ignoring the horrific disservice its advertising did to it, it's too smart and knowing for kids to appreciate it, and too schlocky to be an adult treatise on the matter. Also "pfff Amanda Seyfried, what an uggo!" is not something I expected 2009 to say.

I think there's a decent feminist write up to be made from this thing (dealing with trauma, the relationships of women, etc.) that I won't touch on too much cause it's not my forte or place really. Besides that it's a really fun movie. The kills were quite good and there was buckets of blood. The humor in the film also worked quite well despite Cody's somewhat lacklustre script. Also, this had a great soundtrack (Hole, The Sword and Screeching Weasel).

Comedy-horror in a high school setting with attempts to write Whedon-style snappy Buffy dialogue. But Cody is no Whedon and it made me realise how much Juno relied on Ellen Paige being able to deliver the goods. Here the same style is given to lesser actors and it falls flat. Fox isn't going to be picking up an Oscar anytime soon but she's noticeably better in this than the Transformers films, and for all its failings this never becomes boring.

According to my PSI I should hate this movie, but I thought it was pretty fun. Even if I had no fun watching this movie, this isn't a terrible movie by any measure. Karyn Kusama's direction is good, Megan Fox shows more chops than she does in the Transformers, and Amanda Seyfried is great as the emotionally fragile Needy (despite the heavy as a bag of hammers metaphor of a name). As for Cody's writing- she can be hit or miss with her one-liners but otherwise she is a solid storyteller.

I guess I have to at least give this film props for having an original idea. It would help if that idea wasn't on the stupid side. This review might be a little biased since I passionately hate Diablo Cody, but it doesn't matter. It's got some pretty nice production value, but overall not enough to be memorable. And the occasional smart line of dialogue is completely overpowered by the wealth of cheezy, poorly placed, annoying-as-hell snarks and quips. Not worth it.

Hyped as Juno-writer Diablo Cody's sophomore script, this flick is too clever by half. No scares, no shocks, no laughs, just a load of supposedly teen-centric catchphrases which make it come across as cocky and smartass. Echoes of the classic Carrie but with zero tension. Although Seyfried had some good acting moments, they were cancelled out by Fox's bad ones. The only scene I really enjoyed was the lesbian kissing, I guess that makes both me and the movie pretty sad.

Surprisingly excellent! Scary, hilarious, gory, outlandish, weird, disturbing, stylish, not-at-all-serious, well cast, and, most importantly, extremely clever. Diablo Cody's sophomore writing effort fully delivers as the Juno of horror movies, her comic sensibilities are so well suited for this genre, and perhaps succeeds in being an even stronger, more original effort than Juno.

Writer Cody certainly has a distinct writer's voice: girls r clearly the stars of her stories w/ boys confined 2 the more traditional female supporting roles. She also tries 2 steer clear of the more generic horror cliches, unfortunately that often means jarringly forced tonal shifts btwn "comedy" & horror that only insures neither works. Even worse however is her distractingly unfunny tendency (as she did in the 1st 30 mins of Juno) 2 have teens engage in constant ostensibly "cool" wordplay.

Haha, "offing her male classmates". Get it? HANDJOB JOKE! Entertaining campy movie, and I like Diablo Cody; she manages to find something of a useful fit with her dialogue into this style of flick. Granted, it doesn't work like it worked in Juno - and often pushed past campy, into being worthy of ridicule. But I cannot, in good conscience, give a movie involving Meghan Fox making out with Amanda Seyfried anything less than a 75. I don't think Fox had to fly, though. Never trust Indy Rock bands.

Its Wikipedia page contains a few paragraphs on retrospective reviews that suggest it may be a “forgotten feminist classic”, but I’d say that that’s (fully valid) wishful thinking. Everything in this has aged poorly. R-slurs, racism, and a general failure to actually address the abuse of or empower its women would make this a particularly difficult watch - if it weren’t also just a campy noughties thriller full of horrible outfits and ridiculous colloquialisms to chuckle at.

Kusama really tries to elevate Cody's material, but there is not enough gore to sustain it for more than a few funny scenes. It's a really self-conscious film -- the fact that the band makes a deal with Satan, goes to internet to find a ritual and then makes it with a girl they just assume is a virgin is there to prove it does'nt take itself seriously. Still, it lacks at least one solid shot and the acting doesn't quite help.

Diablo Cody is familiar with the horror genre, she makes this clear by namedropping legends like Argento and Lewis in her script for Juno, but she definitely isn't suited for actually competing with these masters of suspense and gore. In the end, with all its deficiencies, Jennifer's Body is actually a superior horror film than the usual fare we're subjected to, which isn't saying much. I can appreciate the black humor and witty dialogue, but Cody has a long way to mature as a storyteller.

Diablo Cody and Megan Fox seem to ellicit reactions from movie fans way beyond "reasonable". Whereas in Juno Cody's 'teenage super cool witty banter' really grated, because it was SO unbelieveable, here it is toned down and is often amusing. Megan fox is ALWAYS criticised for her acting, but here she is stunning to look at and more than adequately holds her own. This is a fun film, and Fox, Seyfried and Simmons are really likeable characters. Sure, its "throwaway" stuff, but so are 99% of films.

What little fun that could've sprouted from the premise is squashed by the lack of desire to go far enough. Others talk smack about this movie, but I love it. It does exactly what it sets out to do: it's a campy movie about hot teenagers, flesh-eating monsters and how much life sucks when you're growing up in a small town. The plot-line about the indie band is a bit tedious. But Needy, her boyfriend and Jennifer are all super fun. In terms of teen monster dramas, this ranks above The Craft and below Ginger Snaps.

With better actors, a better script, better dialogue, a better director and a soundtrack that wasn't godawful this could have been something.

The title describes the main asset of this movie. Directing is decent too.

The difficulty many of the actors have with Cody's tumbling dominoes of slangy dialogue simply proves what a splendid thespian magic act Ellen Page pulled off as Juno MacGuff. Fox actually does fairly well playing Jennifer before the monster movie conventions take over, hinting at the vulnerability behind her mean girl exterior. This doesn't mean that her friendship with the pretty nerd played by Seyfried makes a bit of sense. It's a contrivance in a movie that eventually is nothing but.

It really wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but it wasn't very good at all. I get that they were trying to be comical, but the movie just wasn't that funny, it was boring, and there wasn't a lot of cohesion. There were a couple of decent parts, like when they go to see the band initially. But overall it just lacks. If you want to see a movie with a couple of hot chicks that sucks, just watch a porno instead.
