Jess + Moss

I experienced quite a hard time sitting through this one. A dull story about siblings weeping about their trauma, combined with a series of highly-saturated pseudo-alternative shots. I must admit though, that it managed to retain some kind of aesthetic value.

A strange and oddly sweet film that manages to capture the feeling of childhood without romanticizing it.

Dull expressionist cinema, shot by someone obsessed with Sally Mann but so divorced from the risk of showing what real bodies do with each other, & so coy, that the vignettes read like a series of hipster postcards tacked on a Williamsburg brownstone's refrigerator -- pretty & forgettable by design. This is supposed to be happening in the South. I guess. Tedious and insufferably twee, it took me 3 good runs at it to finally watch it all.
