Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

Dexter's Lab rip-off turned into a TV show? And why isn't Dexter's Lab as famous as this piece of crap people call comedy?

The late 90s pop soundtrack is a little cheesy, and the charmingly ridiculous plot (the wild "no parents!" party is an early highlight) does occasionally push the limits (see Jimmy converting numerous amusement park rides into spaceships within what seems like 15 minutes) but the lively one-liner humour stemming from the hilariously voiced oddball characters (from slow sidekicks Sheen and Carl to oblivious Mr. Neutron and the wacky alien villains) never lets up and keeps the film a fun ride.

Plot line is equal parts annoying and boring. Also, I know it's fantasy, but you think a movie about a boy genius would be a little more scientifically accurate.

Simplistic animated film is genial and pleasant enough, with a lack of screeching crudity that marked the worst animated features of the period – coming on the heels of SHREK, the animation here is imaginative but ugly and unappealing; more fit for a mid-budget TV effort than a fully-fledged theatrical feature. Plotting is a little too bland and formulaic to have much appeal outside the target demographic, though it is fun to hear Short and Stewart camping it up as the supercilious villains.

Fun and silly. There are gags of all kinds in this movie.

I always hated Jimmy Neutron.

i give this movie a 93 out of 100 because it is a very great film about this boy who is also a genius and the aliens look very real (like real aliens!) and goddard is one of the best characters in any animated film. i love how his brain floats in his skull, that is very neat. i like the tv show as well but the plots in those aren't usually as funny. like there's an episode about pants taking over the world or something? that seems crazy! pants are just pants, they could never take over the

I really liked this as a kid, so perhaps its some internal backlash from rewatching it that's causing the low score. But it's quite annoying (from the characters to the soundtrack) and nonsensical. The animation is usually lackluster and the scripted lines are just the most cliched things they could come up with for a kid to say. You don't get the feeling that the creators tried very hard. At all.

If you're one of those people that likes animations, you may or may not like this movie. Who cares, since only retards think such movies are for adults! As a parent of a 4 and a 6 year old boy, I can say this is a great movie for KIDS that the whole family can enjoy. I really appreciate that it isn't spazzy like some other animations. Looking for a sequel, please!

A mindless plot of their parents getting abducted. I really hate the absolutely awful script, it's just really bad. It's Dexter's Lab except with bad jokes and the most annoying kid, Jimmy, with the dumbest hair ever. And the most annoying girl ever, Cindy, with her.... AHHH. Ranting is fun :)

So ... I am not the audience for this as demonstrated by the fact that I did not know that this was a TV series first. It feels like an extra long episode of a TV show slapped onto the big screen. The computer animation is not good, but ... it looks like the TV show, and maybe that's all that's required. This is fitfully amusing. The deliberately retro look coupled with 80's new wave pop music carries it far enough.

I loved watching the television series when I was younger. This was a fairly entertaining starter for it even though it isn't nearly as entertaining. It's still fun though.

I like this kid.

The show was actually a lot better at working for a very young and gradually older audience. This works for the former, and no one else.
