Jiu xian shi ba die

Slow and forgettable with some good martial arts. The story is mediocre and the actors are pretty average too. It's only been a day since I last watched it and I can't remember too many of the details and none of the fights really stand out. slightly below average but a decent watch.

As a Wuxia dilettante, I often find the genre's deficits in video and audio quality to be a little grating, and this one has not survived in the best shape. But if your watching for martial arts alone, you probably won't get a whole lot out of this. Best viewed for the fight in the first fifteen minutes, after that, there's not much else except for one slightly amusing joke involving food stands.

It's no Drunken Master, but after a slow buildup this became pretty enjoyable. The fights might not be the most tightly edited or refreshingly over the top, but there's plenty of them and I love how apparently alcohol works the same way spinach does for Popeye in these kinds of movies.
