Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie

Comedy, Drama
1h 22m
When the singing Veggies encounter some car trouble, they're stranded at old, rundown seafood joint where nothing is quite as it seems. As Bob the Tomato and the kids settle in to wait for a tow truck to help get their van back on the road, the "Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" share a little story about a guy named Jonah. Jonah was kind of like a mailman except his messages came straight from God. Jonah loves his job, until the day comes when he has to deliver a message to the people of Nineveh... (imdb)

Not too shabby for a bunch of veggies. The choir in the whale was best part of the movie, but that's not saying a whole lot.

Should be enjoyable for most children, but I chuckled a few times too. A couple of decent songs. Not a classic.

Even as an adult, I love the early VeggieTales, but even if you don't like VeggieTales, watch the DVD commentary! It was made after BigIdea already knew it was going under/being bought out by Warner Brothers... And their commentary is so off the hook! It's Larry Cucumber in character as a real Hollywood producer talking about his interactions and casting with other real Hollywood stars. I laughed, I cried, it moved me, Bob!

Fun when I was younger. Not the greatest movie ever, but the silliness adds a little bit of charm.

I absolutely love the Veggietales home video series, but this is where I felt they all started to go down hill. Spectacle began to take precedence over substance, which was the trademark of the series. It more or less changed the formula, and they've never really corrected it since.
