One of those gentle and pleasant Japanese films. And even if it's slightly war themed and coming from a confused period in the world, this doesn't stop being likable as politics doesn't filter in much as to how attached these locals feel about the place they're being forced to move from. The characters are the best thing about this and carries the slow story in fine manner. The story doesn't really say much. You know, the very subtle Japanese style of communicating something.
