Judgement

Impressive early Chan-wook Park short. Great compositions, use of space, dynamic and static staging alike.

Darkly comedic and entertaining but ends right when it really started to get good.

Decent but only has brief flashes of Chan-wook's total grasp of style that would become apparent in his work just one year later with JSA and then perfected by the time he started the Vengeance trilogy in 2002. The confined nature of the setting lends itself well to a short film, but Chan-wook is clearly at his best when he's free from the many restraints imposed here.

Black comedy showcasing talent of Park Chan-wook before his big break with JSA. Technically it's very impressive. Although story is a bit clumsy, it goes clean in the end. Sense of humor might not be universal, but if you find hilarious that a morgue doctor stashes away beer in a refrigerated drawer that's home to a headless body, this film is for you.
