From the location manager of 'El Orfanato' and the catering company that brought you 'El Laberinto del Fauno' comes a rather inane mystery thriller that spits in the eye of all visually impaired people. Move along folks, nothing to see here but bad scriptwriting. Go watch 'Gin gwai' instead.

Ludicrously over-the-top melodramatic horror that nevertheless is surprisingly effective, especially if the viewer is willing to take the film as inhabiting a kind of dream world where things are slightly off-kilter and ordinary logic does not necessarily apply (it seems to this viewer that such was the intention).

After El Orfanato this feels too much like a mediocre Hollywood pastiche, replacing the multi-layered screenwriting and European mysticism with dull serial killer imagery. Also, the script is filled with gaping holes.

The directing was kind of nice and the lead actress tried her best, but the script was nothing new. Actually the idea of harassing shadow figure was nice, but they found out too easy and simple way out. The camera liked the buttocks of hers, and I have to say a fine ass indeed. There was some steaming hot wet clothes in rain as well.

Like djross pointed out, this is the kind of movie that operates on its own internal dream-logic, removed from reality. If you can buy into its dream-logic, it's actually quite fun, and for me, it wasn't something I needed to force myself to buy into at all, I was involved from the very start. Highly melodramatic but entertaining performance from Belén Rueda. I also enjoyed the cinematic depiction of being blind, particularly the exclusion of seeing peoples' faces.

Nice ideas, quite thrilling sometimes, but not too suspenseful. The Hollywood-like-ending was lame.

Decent little Spanish horror flick that makes a pleasant change from scantily clad bimbo's running around being offed by a bloke with a sharp instrument

I was surprised how fascinated I was by this film! I loved the unique combination of magic realism, horror and sentimental drivel..And some of its themes linger in you; It truly must be worse not to be seen than being unable to see. Right?

All horror cliches ( scary noises, shadows and rain, over powering mom and his abused killer kid etc) efficiently used here, great success. I guess it's down to the great cinematographie and Belen Rueda's excellent acting . Muutanet is damn right when he sais "The camera liked the buttocks of hers, and I have to say a fine ass indeed." The script is less rounded though than the above mentioned ass.

That was quite innovative in terms of plot and the directing style of Guillem Morales. The delicate use of darkness in this film goes to another level than we're used to and the mystery that floats throughout the whole film gives off a scent of good old thrillers. I think that Belén Rueda really overcame herself and gave an acting performance that will totally be remembered.
