Hadn't aged particularly well. Without the benefit of nostalgia, it's full of sound and fury (not to mention terrible CGI), signifying nothing. Robin Williams is OK but given very little opportunity to actually be Robin Williams.

It does what it sets out to do: it's a relatively safe family adventure film. However there's really nothing astounding about. The CGI, which was touted to rival Jurassic Park, simply wasn't as impressive. Yeah, it's fun but I can't see anyone but children wanting to see this more than once.

Remember when Robin Williams was a hot commodity they wanted to put into every family film? Why did that happen?

I remember liking it pretty well as a kid. Fluffy adventure fare with an Indiana Jones / Jurassic Park-inspired whiff to it - not surprising, since Joe Johnston is the epitome of Spielberg Lite. The special effects have aged but were very good at the time. Entertaining for its intended target age.

This movie is mostly just nostalgia to me now. It's well acted and some good campy fun. I can't get past some of the awful CGI, but I don't think it's all suppose to be advanced or anything. It's not a bad movie, it's just nothing special like most of my friends and family make it out to be. Williams is as endearing as he usually is though, and that makes it pretty watchable.

Animated flicks aside, this is probably the best family/adventure type movie of the 90's. It reminded me of the classics I grew up watching in the 80's.

A bit of Wizard of Oz and a bit of Peter Pan. As a kid I was always very taken by the boom-doom drumming emanating from underground, a sort of primal omen that portends a darker coming-of-age tale than usual. Maybe it's a male thing, Jumanji focuses on the father-son relationship and 'becoming a man' while its female leads are essentially quippy cheerleaders. My main problem is that it never tries to rise above being an effects feature, and in doing so leaves far too much potential on the board.

It is a silly film, sure, and many of the effects have aged poorly, but for me this is nostalgia at work. A mainstay for most children who grew up in the 90s, and one of Robin Williams's most enduring roles.

This is not aging well. I like the premise of the film a lot, and it has all the elements to be successful, but misses the mark. Oh, back in the days of promise, when Robin Williams was alive and occasionally making decent films, and Kirsten Dunst was young and full of promise. Simpler times, really.

In 1969, Alan Parrish and Sarah Whittle discover a game called Jumanji in which the results of the game occur in the real world and the trouble doesn't end until the game is over. When Alan is sucked inside the game, he is trapped for 26 years until Judy and Peter Shepherd continue the game, releasing Alan (Williams) and forcing the three of them, plus an older Sarah Whittle (Hunt), to finish the game before they unleash too much destruction.

True it's a bit inconsistent and objectively not a great film, but after Aladdin it's probably the best family-entertainment Robin Williams vehicle, and I think that's worth a lot more now that we're never getting any more of them. Everyone here seems scared of the spiders but that drumbeat was nightmare fuel for weeks, and I am STILL terrified of the scene with the piano... Kids will probably still love this. Jumanji still 'makes me feel just like a child', and I love it for that, too.

Theere are good Robin Williams flicks and then there are bad Robin Williamms flicks, so it's rare when you come across a mediocre one like this. Jumanji is a great concept, but not really well executed - script holes mostly. The CGI is very good and somewhat redeems the movie.

Way too fast paced for its own good, but the concept is great and it plays out pretty well. A big hats off to ILM for making outstanding effects for the time, most of which still stand up today, barring color correction problems. If you enjoyed this, I highly recommend Zathura, it's virtually the same only set in space and better.

Come on' A magical time machine board game that sends it's players into an alternate jungle universe filled with dangerous animals and a hunter with a super sexy mustache. YOU'RE BREAKING MY BALLS ALLSBURG!! 2 Points for Robin Williams. 2 Points for Kirsten Dunst. 1 Point because Adam Parish turned into a monkey man.
