Remember when Robin Williams was a hot commodity they wanted to put into every family film? Why did that happen?

This movie has not aged well. Without the benefit of nostalgia goggles, it's full of sound and fury (and terrible CGI), signifying nothing.

It does what it sets out to do: it's a relatively safe family adventure film. However there's really nothing astounding about. The CGI, which was touted to rival Jurassic Park, simply wasn't as impressive. Yeah, it's fun but I can't see anyone but children wanting to see this more than once.

I remember liking it pretty well as a kid. Fluffy adventure fare with an Indiana Jones / Jurassic Park-inspired whiff to it - not surprising, since Joe Johnston is the epitome of Spielberg Lite. The special effects have aged but were very good at the time. Entertaining for its intended target age.

I remember thinking this was an amusing and entertaining light adventure film, with a neat idea of the board game coming to life!

Animated flicks aside, this is probably the best family/adventure type movie of the 90's. It reminded me of the classics I grew up watching in the 80's.

Another awkward entry in the "Robin Williams plays a literal man-child" subgenre of fantasy.

Great family adventure. No childish too much, not too adult, for all ages, with good special effects for almost 15 years ago.

Nostalgia is silly. I didn't even care much for it as a kid.

Its zany and manic but it actually is a lot of excuses for some mediocre CGI and not much else.

Great family film. One of Robin Williams finest movies.

A bit of Wizard of Oz and a bit of Peter Pan. As a kid I was always very taken by the boom-doom drumming emanating from underground, a sort of primal omen that portends a darker coming-of-age tale than usual. Maybe it's a male thing, Jumanji focuses on the father-son relationship and 'becoming a man' while its female leads are essentially quippy cheerleaders. My main problem is that it never tries to rise above being an effects feature, and in doing so leaves far too much potential on the board.

Seen it too many times to care about it anymore. Damn you, TNT. You obviously don't know drama when you play this 50 times a year.

It's not bad for a family action adventure film and visually it's quite good.

I doubt I'd enjoy this as much had I not loved it as a kid, but this movie knows how to fill a boring afternoon.

One of two movies that used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. Those fucking spiders.

The scene with the spiders terrified me as a child. Now when I look back, it has aged terribly and is just boring and dumb

This movie is mostly just nostalgia to me now. It's well acted and some good campy fun. I can't get past some of the awful CGI, but I don't think it's all suppose to be advanced or anything. It's not a bad movie, it's just nothing special like most of my friends and family make it out to be. Williams is as endearing as he usually is though, and that makes it pretty watchable.

I just love the whole idea with the boardgame and the effects of each dice toss. Everything else is kinda meh.
