Juno and the Paycock

A slight but funny Dramady that's not what I was expecting from Hitchcock. Mostly throwaway comedy during the first hour and then its all pretty much tragedy until the end of the movie.

The exaggerated, theatrical and comic tone of the acting doesn't fit the subject matter at all.

It's a darlin' film, a darlin' film.

That shot at the end where Juno looks up at the statue of Mary is damn good at least.

Sean O'Casey's Joyce-inspired melodrama makes a shaky transition to the big-screen, and Hitchcock startlingly makes some poor directorial choices, struggling to convey the nuance of so many central characters.
