A bit slow in pace but the story and players are rewarding enough for this early Suzuki flick. A fine transition of that 'death of the old west' theme for yakuza.

"not good" is not fair - more somewhat hard to get into. A few reviews I saw after watching mention "confusing" and I was so glad because I thought it was stupid old me! A lesser Suzuki made while he was learning his trade. Is a genuine feeling Yakuza and also the death of tradition, film tho it it has problems with pace and storytelling. Worth watching for the Yakuza vibe if nothing else.

Has some of the style but none of the energy of Branded to Kill or Tokyo Drifter. A bit too slow, and occasionally confusing.

Wonderful camera work although a slow plot that fails to truly deliver on the action. It's a beautiful looking film though, colored vibrantly and excitingly. A lot of things that will later show up in Tokyo Drifter (which I really need to rewatch after seeing this).
