A wry and sarcastic sideways glance at postcommunist Romania, which seems to have exchanged one totalitarianism for another: from the old, overt oppression of the Securitate to the new, subtle oppression of the markets. The animation lends a great, Pythonesque absurdity to what is a deeply absurd transformation, and Solomon's narration has just the right amount of somehow-scathing faux-naïveté.
